This week, we are celebrating our certified nurses at OSF Saint Anthony’s!
Today we are highlighting Breanna Dalton, an oncology certified nurse. Breanna graduated from Lewis and Clark Community College in 2011, earned her BSN from WGU in 2022, and completed her oncology certification in 2024.
Breanna credits her career choice to what else, television! Watching shows like ER, she was captivated by healthcare workers and the way they helped others. That early fascination sparked a passion that stayed with her, guiding her toward nursing.
“I felt drawn to helping others, and that passion has stayed with me. One of the main reasons I chose to work here was the atmosphere at OSF Saint Anthony’s—it truly feels like a family. There is a genuine sense of care and compassion for patients that really stands out.” For Breanna, it’s an environment where both patients and staff feel supported, something she values deeply.
One of the most meaningful aspects of her nursing career is the relationships she has built with her fellow nurses. Friendships formed in healthcare are unique. Nurses rely on one another during some of the most challenging moments, offering support and understanding that comes from shared experiences. These lasting connections not only enrich her work, but also enhance the care provided to patients.
Breanna is a part of our nursing staff that has been awarded Magnet® Recognition for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This recognition comes "with distinction," making OSF Saint Anthony’s among 46 hospitals in the United States to be recognized with this award.
