At Alton Physical Therapy, we understand that every patient’s recovery journey is unique. Aquatic therapy offers a specialized approach to rehabilitation by using the natural support and resistance of water to help patients move more comfortably while building strength and mobility.

Aquatic therapy can benefit individuals who are:
β€’ Recovering from an injury
β€’ Managing chronic pain
β€’ Rehabilitating after surgery
β€’ Looking to improve strength, mobility, and overall fitness

Because the water helps reduce pressure on the joints and muscles, many patients are able to perform movements and exercises in the pool that may be difficult or painful on land. This supportive environment can help improve mobility, strength, and confidence during the rehabilitation process.

Our aquatic therapy program is led by Maredith Harris, who has extensive experience teaching aquatic exercise and water safety throughout the Metro East area. With national certification in aquatic therapy and years of experience working with patients in the water, our program focuses on helping individuals move more comfortably, recover safely, and improve their overall quality of life.

πŸ“ Aquatic Therapy is available at our Alton and Jerseyville locations.

Dry Needling - Available at our Alton, Hardin, Columbia, Jerseyville and Staunton Locations

Muscle tightness, trigger points, and persistent discomfort can limit movement and slow recovery. Dry needling is a specialized treatment technique performed by licensed physical therapists to address muscular tension and improve mobility.

Using thin, sterile needles, therapists target tight muscle bands and trigger points to help reduce pain and restore normal muscle function. Dry needling may help with:

β€’ Chronic muscle tightness
β€’ Sports-related injuries
β€’ Neck and back pain
β€’ Tendon irritation
β€’ Headaches related to muscle tension

Dry needling is often combined with therapeutic exercise and manual therapy to support long-term recovery and improved movement patterns.
