🌟 Service Spotlight Series: Microcurrent Neurofeedback ⚡🧠

This week, we’re featuring Microcurrent Neurofeedback, a gentle, non-invasive therapy that helps the brain reset and regulate itself—often improving mood, focus, sleep, and overall well-being.

We use the IASIS system, a passive form of neurofeedback that encourages the brain to shift out of stuck patterns. Many clients report feeling calmer, clearer, and more resilient—even after just a few sessions.

It’s a great option for both children and adults, especially those navigating stress, trauma, brain fog, anxiety, or the neurological effects of chronic illness. Microcurrent Neurofeedback doesn’t force change—it helps the brain remember how to heal.

You've maybe heard that alcohol isn't good for your liver. But if liver enzymes look fine, most people just continue on with their alcohol consumption. Well - we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the effects of alcohol are much deeper than you have likely been told.

One of the least known effects of alcohol is that it is a Group 1 carcinogen, meaning there is sufficient evidence that it causes cancer in humans. Studies show alcohol consumption is the third leading preventable cause of cancer in the United States, after to***co and obesity. There are 30% more alcohol related cancer deaths each year than alcohol related traffic fatalities.

Even small amounts can increase your risk. Alcohol has been strongly linked to the development of 7 different types of cancer: breast, liver, colorectal, esophageal, mouth, throat, and larynx cancers.

While guidelines suggest up to 1 drink/day for women and 2 for men, the truth is:
👉 There is no safe level of alcohol consumption.

Alcohol also disrupts sleep, weakens immunity, and contributes to heart disease and cognitive decline. Cutting back helps—but quitting is the healthiest choice.

🌟 Service Spotlight Series: Integrative Cancer Support
This week, we’re featuring Integrative Cancer Support- a service offered to those with a cancer diagnosis or those in need of post-cancer support.

Our team works alongside your oncologists & cancer care team to help you optimize outcomes, reduce side effects, feel stronger, and feel better equipped to navigate your cancer journey. We follow the Metabolic Approach to Cancer, which focuses on optimizing the body’s internal terrain—addressing factors like blood sugar, inflammation, stress/emotions, detoxification, and hormone balance—to create conditions less favorable to cancer growth.

Through in-depth labwork & assessments, personalized nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and evidence-informed therapies, we aim to support your resilience and improve quality of life during and after conventional treatment.

*Integrative Cancer Support is NOT a replacement for the standard of care cancer treatment. We do not claim to treat or cure cancer. We cannot guarantee results or remission.*

Cholesterol can be a little bit of a hot topic in the functional medicine world. BUT in this patient, our focus was NOT on her cholesterol. We focused on optimizing her metabolic health & inflammation, and this was the change we saw in her cholesterol just by doing that! So here's your reminder to not throw 100 supplements or meds at trying to reduce your cholesterol, take a step back and look at the bigger picture of your health.

Been told you have an autoimmune disease and that you will have it for life? Depending on the situation, this isn't always true! Through a customized care plan for each individual PATIENT (NOT disease!) many autoimmune diseases can be managed, put in remission, and in some cases, resolved for long periods of time.
Why do we emphasize treating a patient and not the disease process? Because even though two people may have the same disease or diagnosis - the treatment that each patient needs may be wildly different depending on their overall terrain status, health history, exposures, and triggers. Don't settle for the standard of care approach that matches a pill to your diagnosis. You deserve better!

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a marker of inflammation in the body, often elevated in conditions like cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disorders, and chronic infections. Lowering CRP is important because persistent inflammation can damage blood vessels, impair recovery/healing, and increase the risk of long-term health complications. Tracking and reducing CRP through lifestyle changes or medical treatment can support better overall health and disease prevention. With a customized plan to meet an individual's needs, dramatic improvements can happen quickly!

Improving thyroid function can happen without meds! However, depending on your levels and your overall health status, it is important to work with a provider that can help you monitor the situation and intervene medically if appropriate. In this patient case, no meds were needed - by optimizing the patient's nutrients, inflammation, and metabolic health - the free t3 soared on its own! Free T3 is the active thyroid hormone that directly influences metabolism, energy production, and cellular function. Optimizing free T3 levels is important for cell activity, body temperature regulation, overall hormonal balance, and more. Low levels can contribute to fatigue, weight changes, and cognitive slowing—even when other thyroid labs appear normal. Free t3 is not routinely checked - if you are struggling with thyroid symptoms but TSH appears normal, make sure to request a free t3 (and maybe some other labs!).
