Chloe (Ch-loh) is a former footballer who suffered a significant adductor tear a few years ago.

She rehabbed. She tried to return to dynamic sport tasks. She couldn’t quite get there.

You could say the same about the profits insurance companies make off your premiums—yet they’ll limit a post-op ACL rehab to 10–20 visits, slap on a $1,000 deductible, and then charge you $100 per visit because that’s “fair and customary.”

After those 10–20 visits, you realize you’ve already paid everything they were ever willing to pay—out of your own pocket.

The patient gets screwed.
The provider gets screwed.

And to survive, the provider is forced to see 3–4 patients an hour just to make a decent wage—at which point quality of care goes straight out the window.

Providers shouldn’t just be debt collectors. Insurance should pay enough to ensure quality care.

HPT made the bad business move to limit visits to 1-1. But it’s the best thing we’ve ever done for our patients and our outcomes.

The system is broken. It has to change—but how?
