Fight Flight Hangover is real.
And I lived it this week.
The night before this photo series, my nervous system never stood down.
Loud, unpredictable noise. Constant stimulation. A body staying alert while holding safety for others.
My system did what it’s trained to do.
Scan. Guard. Stay ready.
The next morning told the rest of the story.
Bone-deep fatigue. Achy hips. Shallow breathing. Cold, then hot.
Not sick.
Not weak.
Just… drained.
This is what happens when the nervous system spends hours in fight or flight.
Stress hormones don’t vanish when the noise stops.
They crash later.
That crash is what I call a fight flight hangover.
It’s not burnout.
It’s not failure.
It’s physiology.
Your body protected you.
Now it needs recovery.
Hydration.
Warmth.
Gentle movement.
Long exhales.
Quiet.
And sometimes, trauma-informed bodywork to remind your system it’s safe again.
If this post made you feel seen, you’re not alone.
And you don’t need to push through this.
Battery drained isn’t a character flaw.
It’s a signal.
Listen to it.
