Gene Ford passed from this life on the afternoon of Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 79—crossing that final finish line much like he lived: steady and fearless to the very end. And while the race here is complete, you can almost hear the echo of engines as he pulls into a different kind of winner’s circle, where the track stretches on without end.

The family welcomes you to One Last Show honoring Gene-the Ford guy that always had Chevrolets-from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Kincannon Funeral Home. Come as you are, bring your favorite classic or hot rod, and be ready to swap some stories and tricks of the trade.

Thank you Altus Chamber of Commerce for your dedication to the businesses in Southwest Oklahoma. Your encouragement and support are truly invaluable, fostering growth, connection, and a stronger community for us all.

At Kincannon Funeral Home, every service is handled with one guiding purpose: to lay your loved one to rest with dignity and respect above all else. From the moment you walk through their doors, you can feel the care, compassion, and heart behind what they do.

They offer full-service support for families during life’s most difficult moments, including personalized services, burial and cremation options, veteran services, digital memorialization, and even planning ahead for peace of mind. They’ve also recently added an event center, giving families a comfortable space to gather, reflect, and support one another after a service.

For Michael Turner, Tara Turner, and Perry Simpson, this work is deeply personal. They’re impacted by every family they serve and truly believe they’re part of something bigger than a business—it’s a ministry. And it shows in the way they care for others, every single day.

Today we honor Wesley Herman as we enter his birth month and what would have been his 5th birthday. Wesley was born sleeping in April 2021 due to a true knot in his umbilical cord. In that same year, his family became one of the 24,000 families who experienced the heartbreaking loss of a stillborn child.

From that deep sorrow, something meaningful was born. Wesley’s story inspired the creation of the Born Sleeping Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds for CuddleCot donations. These special devices provide families the invaluable gift of time—time to hold, to love, and to say goodbye during the most tender moments of grief.

We remain steadfast in reshaping how we serve families experiencing loss, including infant loss—creating meaningful, supportive, and compassionate care that honors their grief while gently guiding them toward healing. In 2025, the Herman family graciously gifted Tara Turner at Kincannon Funeral Home with a CuddleCot, allowing an even more personalized and thoughtful level of care for the families we serve.

Together, we hope to continue engaging our community in this important conversation—working to lower infant mortality rates while raising the standard of care for some of our most vulnerable families.

Today, we remember Wesley and the lasting impact his life continues to have.
