Medicare Advantage plans sound great in the commercials, but in rural Oklahoma they often come with restricted networks and insurance company approvals standing between you and the care you need. We unfortunately experience it more and more. That means if you ever need skilled nursing or rehab after a hospital stay, a private company, not your doctor, may decide whether you can stay close to home at a place like Beadles or have to stay far away in OKC or Tulsa.
Original Medicare has none of that, no networks, no prior approvals, just coverage at any Medicare-certified facility like our facilities. Right now through March 31st, you can switch back to Original Medicare during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period. 🚫 Medicare Advantage Networks: Why They Can Limit Care in Rural Oklahoma 🚫
Medicare Advantage plans often require "in-network" providers. In rural areas like Woods County, that can mean your trusted local provider isn't covered, forcing longer drives for visits.
During the current Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (Jan 1–Mar 31), you can switch plans or return to Original Medicare- meaning no networks, so you see any Medicare-accepting provider nationwide.
