Why are women so afraid of what society thinks about our health choices?
Today I spoke with a patient who shared something that really stayed with me.
Her fear wasn’t only about hormones or lab numbers.
It was about being judged.
About what people might think if she chose to take care of herself in a different way.
And I realized how many women quietly carry this frustration.
We push through headaches.
We normalize fatigue.
We accept brain fog, low motivation, low libido, joint pain — and tell ourselves, “This is just aging.”
Meanwhile, when men don’t feel well, they’re encouraged to seek care, to optimize, to feel strong and sharp again.
So why do women hesitate to give themselves that same permission?
Why are we so afraid of what society might say if we choose to feel better?
Wellness is not vanity.
Feeling clear, strong, confident, and connected to your body is not selfish.
It’s part of your health.
And maybe the real question isn’t “What will people think?”
But “Why did we ever believe we had to suffer in silence?”
Tomorrow, I want to talk about one hormone that many women are curious — and nervous — about: testosterone for women.
Benefits, side effects, and the truth — without the drama.
