We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Julito Uy, MD, MBA, and Abbie Pitt, AGNP-C, to Oceans Amarillo!

Dr. Julito Uy, MD

Dr. Uy brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team. Currently a skilled physician at I40First in Amarillo, Texas, he earned his medical degree in 1988 from Virgen Milagrosa Educational Institution in the Philippines. His training includes completing programs at the State University of New York in Stony Brook and the Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Amarillo. As a dedicated emergency care provider and internal medicine specialist, Dr. Uy excels at quickly assessing situations to deliver the best possible care. Known for his exceptional bedside manner, he builds strong rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that everyone receives personalized attention.

Abbie Pitt, AGNP-C

Abbie has been a nurse for 25 years, specializing in psychiatric care and comprehensive hospital settings. For the past 6 years, she has served as a Nurse Practitioner. Her diverse background includes functional health, nursing in nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities, as well as psychiatric nursing, including previous work at Oceans. Currently, Abbie is a Hospitalist Admission Nurse Practitioner at BSA, dedicated to providing quality patient care.

Introducing our amazing Outpatient Adolescent Therapists at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Amarillo!

At Oceans Healthcare, we understand the critical role that behavioral outpatient programs play in fostering mental health and personal growth, especially for adolescents facing challenges. Our dedicated team is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of each individual and family.

Lindsay Tomlinson, M.A., LPC-Associate serves as an Adolescent Therapist. With a solid background in community and outpatient mental health settings, Lindsay is currently under the supervision of Kendra McLaughlin, PhD, LPC-S. She has extensive experience in supporting adolescents and families through both individual and group therapy. As she transitioned into hospital-based behavioral health, Lindsay has remained dedicated to helping youth navigate behavioral concerns, mental health challenges, and academic issues. Passionate about fostering healthier coping strategies and strengthening communication, she aims to empower adolescents and families to achieve their personal goals in a supportive environment.

Susan White, LMSW is also an Adolescent Therapist, supervised by Melissa Preece, LCSW-S, LCDC, in our Outpatient Program. She holds an undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. With over 18 years of experience in both general and special education settings, Susan brings invaluable insights into youth development and emotional wellness. Her transition into therapy has allowed her to directly support adolescents in meaningful ways. She is passionate about helping teens build confidence, enhance coping skills, and reach their full potential.

Jackie Bebout, Intake Coordinator

With a decade of experience in mental health services, Jackie is the caring first point of contact for those seeking help. She understands that a warm and supportive welcome can make all the difference in a person's treatment journey. Jackie's passion for mental health stems from her belief that emotional well-being is just as crucial as physical health. Having witnessed the profound effects of mental health challenges on individuals and families, she is dedicated to offering empathetic, respectful, and evidence-based care.

Every day, Jackie strives to make people feel heard, valued, and empowered as they navigate life's obstacles. She creates a safe haven for connections, encouraging positive change and celebrating even the smallest moments of progress.

Priscilla Hernandez, Intake Coordinator

With five years of dedicated service at Oceans, Priscilla has cultivated a passion for mental health and understanding the diverse range of mental health conditions. Growing up in a culture where mental health was often overlooked, she is proud to challenge misconceptions and work to break the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Priscilla is committed to helping others and being a supportive presence in their lives. Whether she's the reassuring voice on the phone reminding patients they are not alone or meeting them in person to ensure they feel heard, her goal is to bring smiles and comfort. One of the most fulfilling aspects of her job is witnessing patients regain hope and develop a positive outlook on life, from their first day to discharge.

Amber Liter, Intake Director

Amber has turned her personal hardships into powerful motivation for success. Overcoming challenges like homelessness and addiction, she has embraced an environment filled with opportunities for growth. Passionate about helping others, Amber is building a career in mental health while pursuing her master’s degree in counseling.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital - Amarillo is proud to be one of the main sponsors of the 2026 First Responder Crisis and Mental Health Conference in Clovis, New Mexico, February 25-28, 2026!

Coordinated by Nurstead Mental Health, this is a first-of-its-kind, best practice crisis training and is free attendance for all first responders; including law enforcement, fire, EMS, probation, corrections, military, and more! This essential event will gather a large number of first responders from the Texas Panhandle, Eastern New Mexico, and across the U.S. to focus on critical issues they face daily.

The conference will concentrate on two key areas: mental health and crisis intervention, along with stress reduction and wellness for first responders. First responders are exposed to some of the toughest moments in people's lives, and it's vital to address the emotional weight that comes with that.

Key topics covered will include:

-Mental health and substance use as they relate to su***de and crisis interactions
-Communication skills for effective crisis management
-De-escalation and crisis negotiation tactics
-Basic drug recognition
-Resiliency of first responders in natural disaster response
-Recognizing su***de warning signs and engaging in discussions about su***de with the public and fellow responders
-Su***de intervention and prevention skills for both the general public and first responders
-Stress reduction and wellness programs tailored for first responders, including strategies for building support networks within departments
-Agency culture, conflict resolution, and overall wellness

Meet the Faces of Oceans: Champions of Mental Health in Our Community!

We are proud to introduce these dedicated team members who work tirelessly to advocate for individuals in need of essential mental health resources.

Through raising awareness, promoting mental well-being, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, our liaisons create a more integrated approach to behavioral healthcare. Understanding the unique challenges faced by those struggling with behavioral health, they play a crucial role in building a healthier, more resilient community.

Avery Flores, Community Liaison

Avery has built and maintained strong relationships with community professionals to promote essential mental health services. With a focus on educating healthcare facilities and rural communities, she highlights the programs and services offered within our adult, geriatric, and adolescent programs. Avery’s passion for helping those with healthcare needs led her to a vital role in community education for our hospital.

Before joining Oceans, Avery established strong working relationships as a Marketing Liaison with Exceptional Healthcare Inc., where she interacted with front desk admins, nurses, physicians, and medical facilities to promote services. She also gained valuable experience as a substitute teacher with Amarillo Independent School District, managing classrooms and fostering positive learning environments.

A proud graduate of West Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders, Avery is an Amarillo native who enjoys traveling and reading books in her spare time. She is making a meaningful impact in our community!

Stephanie Waldron, Community Liaison

Stephanie Waldron combines expertise in Criminal Justice and Psychology with a strong background in behavioral health, crisis response, forensics, and more. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.

Stephanie's experience includes roles such as Executive Director at a research and evaluation organization, as well as positions as a Qualified Mental Health Professional and Senior Events Manager. Throughout her career, she has taken on various roles, including Case Manager, member of the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team, and Substitute Teacher.

Her commitment to supporting individuals and communities is evident in her work at Oceans. Stephanie has received several accolades for her academic and professional achievements, including a Student Scholarship from the Forensic Mental Health Association of California and an Excellence in Clinical Work award.

Jim Womack, Market Development Director

Jim has over 25 years of experience in behavioral health and non-profit leadership. He has a proven track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders and diverse communities, successfully leading organizations through growth and change, and has a deep understanding of the Texas Panhandle's philosophical landscape.

Jim currently provides oversite of business development and community relations operations and has been instrumental in increasing patient access to services by more than 30% over the past two years, as well as strengthening person-to-person and organizational connections across a multi-state area.

Previously, Jim served as the CEO of Family Support Services of Amarillo for 10 years and held positions as the Director of Planning and Public Information at Texas Panhandle Centers, Regional Director for the Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Mental and Medical Impairments, Associate Faculty with the University of Phoenix, and as a community supervision officer. Jim’s first “job” was driving a tractor at a very young age after his Dad’s hired hands took off in the middle of harvest. Later, he could be found throwing hay bales, doing maintenance work in high school, working in a library, and delivering pizzas. Each role has reinforced the importance of humility, reliability, and service to others.

Jim holds a Master of Arts in Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from West Texas A&M University. Actively involved in the community, he has served on multiple local and state-wide boards and advisory committees, demonstrating his commitment to service and impact.

At Oceans Amarillo, we proudly achieved an impressive 83% success rate in improving symptoms for participants aged 12 and up in our outpatient programs last year. This outstanding performance places us among the nation’s top achievers, far exceeding the typical U.S. success rates of 50% to 70%.

Building on this success, in 2026, we are excited to introduce you to the dedicated faces behind our achievements - our Oceans Amarillo Team. These are the professionals who make exceptional patient care possible every day. Today we are featuring our Outpatient Leadership.

Lisa Schulz, RN- Director of Outpatient Services:

Lisa came to Oceans Amarillo with over 10 years of nursing experience across intensive care, emergency medicine, oncology, and behavioral health. After working in cancer treatment, she transitioned into mental health four years ago to pursue work she is deeply passionate about. Lisa is committed to expanding access to compassionate, high-quality outpatient care and fostering supportive environments where patients feel respected, empowered, and understood.

Paige Jones, LPC- Outpatient Clinical Program Manager:

Paige earned her master’s degree from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. Paige specializes in helping individuals who have experienced traumatic events work through the complex and often challenging responses that follow. She has extensive training in Personality Disorders, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Paige enjoys working with clients across a wide range of ages, from adolescents to adults. In addition to English, she is fluent in Portuguese and is proficient in Spanish.
