It is with heavy hearts and great reverence that we announce the passing of Ronald Gene Doty, lovingly known as “Ron,” born June 18, 1947, in Hillsdale, Michigan. He spent the last 13 years of his extraordinary life in the warm community of Panhandle, Texas, where he formed countless friendships and touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and resilience.

Ron was a man of immeasurable strength and determination. A beloved truck driver in the transportation industry, he dedicated his service for over 44 years before retiring. Ron was the backbone of the American highway, navigating through life’s twists and turns with the same grace and tenacity he demonstrated behind the wheel. His love for the open road was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. As Henry David Thoreau once said, “Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.” Ron was never lost on his journey; he was always at home on the road, a testament to his profound understanding of himself and the world around him.

Married on August 28, 1965, Ron was a devoted husband to his wife, Flora. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Panhandle. His love story inspired all who knew him, a testament to enduring love and companionship. His legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Flora, and his children, Ronnie Doty and Ronda Craddock. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ralph and Evelyn Doty. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him, and his life serves as a beacon of resilience, strength, and unwavering love.

We invite friends, family, and anyone whose life was touched by Ron to share their memories on the website. Your stories and pictures will help keep Ron’s spirit alive, reminding us all of the remarkable man he was. As we grieve his loss, let us also celebrate the life he led and the lives he touched along the way. As the saying goes, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Ron’s life was full of such moments, and it is these we choose to remember and cherish.
