🌅🌸 Easter Reminds Us That Light Always Returns 🌸🌅

Easter is a time of renewal, hope, and new beginnings.

It reminds us that even after the darkest seasons…
light finds its way back in.

For many families, this season is also a time to reflect on the people who shaped our lives —
the memories, the laughter, and the love that continues to live on.

Because even though time moves forward…
those we love are never truly gone.

Their legacy lives on in the moments we carry with us every day.

đź’› Today, we remember. We honor. And we hold close the memories that matter most.

From all of us at Lighthouse Funeral Home,
we wish you a peaceful and meaningful Easter.

đź’› Sometimes preparation becomes a gift.

When arrangements are already taken care of, families are able to focus on what truly matters…

Remembering the stories.
Honoring a life well lived.
Supporting each other through the moments that matter most.

In times like these, it’s not about decisions or details —
it’s about being present, together.

That kind of peace doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s something that’s thoughtfully given.

04/02/2026

BrookLynn Lee Shirley, “BrooknBear,” born on October 31, 2015, left this world on March 31, 2026, wrapped in the love of her family after a brave four-year battle with Ewing Sarcoma. She spent her entire life in Amarillo, surrounded by a family who adored her and a community who loved her fiercely.

BrookLynn saw the world with bright, thoughtful eyes. She was beautiful, sweet, strong, smart, kind, and compassionate. She carried a quiet, unwavering bravery, even on the hardest days. Her wit and sass could spark a smile in any room, and her loving heart made everyone around her feel seen. She was articulate, imaginative, and talented in ways that made the world around her feel bigger and more magical. BrookLynn dreamed of becoming a world-renowned surgeon one day — a goal that reflected both her brilliant mind and her desire to help others.

A proud 4th grader at Highland Park Elementary, BrookLynn loved learning—especially when she could build something new, solve a tricky math problem, or dive into a science experiment that made her eyes light up. She adored arts and crafts, video games, reading, traveling, and playing “Would You Rather” with the people she loved. She was a tender friend to every creature, big or small, and she felt most at peace near the ocean, listening to the waves.

BrookLynn loved her friends deeply. She cherished their laughter, their games, their whispered secrets, and the comfort they shared. Above all else, she loved her family with a devotion that will forever be remembered.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Granny & Papaw Shirley, GG & Grandpa Flanigan, Mamaw & Papaw Hobbs, and Grandpa Kimball; her grandparents, Grandpa Shirley and Grammy Sharon, and her cousin, Braedon Carmack.

She is survived by her parents, Austin and Jeanette Shirley, and AmberLynn Shirley and her partner Brandon Campsey; her brother Gavin Canady (wife Kensey); Nana & Grumpy, Ron and Linette Hobbs; Grandma Kathryn Shirley; Papa Ray; her aunts Sarah Shirley, Christa Gutierrez (husband Jeremy), Bree Lester (husband Kaide), Sydney Tapp (husband James); and her uncle Billy Shirley (wife Victoria). She is also survived by her many cousins—Christy, Nichole, Megan, Jeremiah, Jonah, Jazlyn, Vinni, Violette, Sadie, and Elizabeth— her nephew, Knox— and her sisters Charcy & Kayzli.

Though her time on earth was far too short, BrookLynn’s life was a testament to courage, tenderness, and joy. She taught those around her how to love deeply, how to find beauty in small things, and how to keep going even when the road is steep. Her light will continue to shine in every memory, every story, and every heart she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 6th at 5:00 PM at Life Church, 8600 Canyon Dr. in Amarillo.

If you loved her, prayed for her, laughed with her, or carried her in your heart, we would be honored to have you join us as we remember her joy, her strength, and the incredible bravery she showed every single day. She faced more than most ever will, and she met it all with a courage that inspired everyone around her.

BrookLynn loved the colors red and turquoise, and if you feel moved to wear them in her honor, we would love that. Please don’t feel obligated—your presence is what matters most.

🌼 April Fools’… but this one’s not a joke 🌼

Life has a funny way of reminding us not to take every moment too seriously.

The laughter.
The inside jokes.
The stories that get retold year after year…

Those are often the memories our families hold onto the longest.

Today might be filled with a few harmless pranks and smiles —
but it’s also a good reminder to create moments worth remembering.

Because one day, those laughs will become part of your legacy.

David Wesley Minor, born October 18, 1969, in Amarillo, Texas, will forever be remembered as a brave spirit who loved with an open heart. Despite facing myriad life challenges, David consistently demonstrated unwavering courage and resilience, inspiring everyone around him. As Maya Angelou once said, “I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it,” a sentiment that encapsulated David’s life perfectly.

David was the loving son of Beverly Montgomery and Lawrence Minor, the cherished brother of Annalisa Minor, and the adored uncle of Annalisa’s daughter. Despite his physical disabilities, he remained a beacon of optimism and strength throughout his life. David’s ability to find joy in the simplest things, his infectious laughter, and his love for the people around him were among the many qualities that made him a truly unique soul. He was never one to let his disability define him; instead, he showcased an indomitable, inspiring spirit.

David’s life was a testament to Helen Keller’s quote, “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.” His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones and those fortunate enough to have known him. He taught us that true strength comes from within and that no obstacle is too great if faced with bravery and determination.

As we remember David, we encourage everyone to celebrate his life by sharing their memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. These contributions will serve as a testament to David’s remarkable life and the profound impact he had on those lucky enough to know him.

With heavy hearts and deep respect, we announce the passing of Dawn Maddox—known and loved by many as Sherie—who left this world on March 30, 2026. A devoted mother, a loyal friend, and a woman who lived life boldly, she leaves behind a legacy that will ride on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Sherie was a true biker at heart—cool, fearless, and free. The open road was her sanctuary, especially atop her beloved Harley-Davidson, where the roar of the engine and the wind on her face made her feel most alive. Riding wasn’t just a passion—it was a part of who she was. She embraced life with grit and grace, always ready for the next adventure and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who crossed her path.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Tyler Harper; her granddaughter, Addie Harper; her sister, Deena Williamson, and her husband, Dave; her brother, Brandon Maddox, and his wife, Summer; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Aaron Harper, who was tragically taken from this world. Their reunion now brings comfort to the many who mourn them both.

Those who knew Sherie will remember her for her courage, her kindness, and the unmistakable spark she brought into every room—and every road—she traveled. Her laughter, her resilience, and her deep love for her family will never be forgotten.

May she rest in peace, forever riding in wide-open skies, reunited with her son, and remembered with love by all whose lives she touched.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026, at HIS Church, 6300 Arden Road, Amarillo, Texas, under the care of Lighthouse Funeral Home.
