Following a comprehensive Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) site visit and review process, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine has received official confirmation of a successful continued full accreditation outcome.

The LCME has granted the M.D. Program full 8-year accreditation after evaluating the program’s compliance, using 12 accreditation standards and 93 specific elements. This process required an extensive institutional self-study across the School of Medicine’s three major campuses, including Amarillo, a preparation effort that spanned nearly two years culminating in a nearly 500-page written document. The self-study demonstrates the school’s dedication to academic distinction and continuous improvement.

Such an achievement is a testament to the commitment of TTUHSC learners and team members across the institution. With hard work and innovative thinking, the School of Medicine continues to advance education and train future physicians who will shape the future of health across Texas and beyond.

The LCME is a nationally recognized accrediting authority for medical education programs leading to the M.D. degree in the United States. Jointly sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the American Medical Association (AMA), the LCME’s accreditation process is a rigorous, voluntary and peer-reviewed system that ensures medical schools meet established standards while also fostering institutional and programmatic improvement.
