The CMS Guide Model is a program available to traditional Medicare beneficiaries with a dementia diagnosis. It includes a dedicated care coordinator, a 24/7 support line, a personalized care plan and up to $2500 in respite caregiver relief. All at zero cost to patient and caregivers. Temps are dropping and staying warm is crucial for the elderly, especially during the cold winter months. As people age, their bodies produce less heat, making it harder to maintain a stable body temperature. Prolonged exposure to cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia, a potentially life-threatening condition. Additionally, cold weather can exacerbate existing health conditions, such as arthritis, heart disease, and respiratory problems. Encourage elderly loved ones to dress warmly, stay indoors during extreme cold snaps, and maintain a warm home temperature to ensure their safety and comfort.

We are often asked to help individuals decipher the difference between Personal Care Services and Home Health Care.

If you need assistance for you or a loved one to help with tasks such as light housekeeping, meal prep, and most of all – companionship – you need Personal Care Services. In the Amarillo region, we serve under the name ComPassion At Home. In the Lubbock region, we serve under the name Compassion Personal Care Services (CPCS).

November is National Home Health Care and Hospice month, and we like to utilize this time to remind people that home health care is more than just convenient – it’s good medicine. Home care blends professional care with the warmth of the home environment and offers many people the opportunity to live with their families while receiving the care they need – and most importantly – keeping them from being rehospitalized after major surgical procedures.

We also use this time to thank all those who work in the Home Health and Hospice fields. People who choose this career are the personal caregivers – with an emphasis on care – who spend time knowing the individual needs of all those that they serve. As caregivers, we too, thank the many people who allow us into their homes each and every day.

The answer is simple. All four entities are locally owned and family run by two full generations of the Madison family. With a calling to healthcare more than 40 years ago, Dana Madison, DNP, MBA, BSN, RN and her husband Ronnie, MBA, BSME began their focus in building businesses to best serve the west Texas and panhandle areas.
