With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to share my story to provide hope for healing.

About 3 years ago, I developed multiple large (and painful) cysts in my breasts. I knew I didn’t want to go the western medicine route of mammograms/cutting/poisoning, so I got to work. Here are 3 things I did to reverse this scary situation:

1 - Tested to understand my hormone levels using the DUTCH hormone test. High estrogen levels (especially when not counterbalanced with healthy progesterone levels) can spell disaster for breast health.

2. Tested my estrogen metabolism. Sometimes estrogen metabolism can actually be more important than levels themselves. Estrogen metabolism is quite complex. We’ve got phase 1 in the liver - the 4-OH pathway is particularly DNA-damaging and associated with cancer. Then we’ve got multiple aspects of phase 2/3 estrogen metabolism as well like methylation, sulfation and glucuronidation. The DUTCH looks at Phase 1 and methylation/sulfation, but the GI Map is my favorite to assess for glucuronidation.

3 - Tested for and strategically addressed root causes. When it comes to hormones and breast health, major root causes I see are liver health (toxins) and gut health (infections). Toxins can gunk up the liver, making it less efficient at metabolizing hormones. Bacterial overgrowths in the gut can cause the body to recycle estrogen and toxic estrogen by-products rather than getting rid of them.

The body is a healing machine, but you can’t heal if you don’t know what your healing from. However, with the right information and strategy, so much is possible. I hope my breast health nightmare turned healing success story empowers you today! šŸ’—Pamela

MTHFR is all hot again.

And…people are burning themselves up because they are not addressing how to support their MTHFR gene properly.

STOP.

Companies and ā€˜influencers’ are scaring you into buying their s**t.

Fear sells. Very well.

I have MTHFR compound heterozygous. It’s very significant. I’m very vulnerable to low methylfolate and high homocysteine.

I hardly use methylfolate.

You read that right.

I use methylfolate when I NEED it.

I can feel when that time comes. Then, when I use it, I feel benefits extremely fast.

If I use methylfolate when I don’t need it, I experience headaches, joint pain, irritability.

I get that you’re scared.

I get that you want to ā€˜fix’ your SNPs.

Your SNPs may not be negatively impacting you at all.

How do you know?

Read Dirty Genes.

Dirty Genes removes fear, instills hope, empowers you and guides you.

I go over MTHFR thoroughly…and properly.

I’ve been educating about MTHFR since 2011.

I’ve helped so many people around the world with the principles laid out in Dirty Genes.

My publisher wanted me to title my book The Seven Deadly Genes.

I fought for two weeks. Absolutely not doing this.

They backed off when I told them I empower people. I don’t sell fear.

Clean your Dirty Genes.

I wrote Dirty Genes for YOU.

ā¤ļø

Only thing left for you to do is read it.

Then…apply what I share with you.

Comment below how Dirty Genes helped you. What was the biggest realization for you?

Tag a MTHF’R who needs guidance.

Sharing some of my journey with a client today and feeling extra thankful for how far I’ve come. This is what I looked like 10 years ago (and for about 20 years of my life).

I went to every doctor imaginable….. MD’s, Immunologists, Allergists, Gastroenterologists, Endocrinologists, Naturopaths, Homeopaths, Chiropractors,, biofeedback practitioners, Functionalā€ docs who called themselves Functional but ran no real functional lab tests on me, health coaches, and even a famous chronic illness healing center. No answers. No progress.

It wasn’t until I studied genetics/Epigenetics and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, and started running my own root Cause Functional labs, that I started to get real answers.

If you have symptoms that no one has been able to help with, I know there are answers. You just have to run the right tests to find them. I’d love to help you.

In my last few posts, I’ve talked about several pathogenic/opportunistic gut bacteria that have been found to be associated with autoimmune disease development.

Today, I am switching gears to talk a bit about the parasite link to autoimmunity. Parasites in general can cause extreme damage to the gut, cells, and overall health.

The protozoan parasite, Endolimax nana, is known to inhabit the colon of infected individuals. For a person with very robust health and healthy immune system, it may not be that big of a deal.

But for a person with already poor gut health and struggling immune system, or even genetic susceptibilities, this parasite can really wreak havoc.

It is thought to leech calcium from the bones as well as cause malabsorption in the host, leading to many nutrient deficiencies.

It is associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis and many collagen related diseases..... so think skin and joint issues! When I ran my very first GI Map test a few years ago, I had this. And guess what? I’ve had both skin and joint issues for as long as I can remember. I suspect this played a big role in my body ultimately developing Lupus and both of my knees degenerating in my early thirties (if only I had discovered functional/root cause testing earlier 😩).

This cellular vampire is also associated with eczema, vaginitis, brain fog and chronic fatigue!

This is one reason I love to run the GI Map on all of my clients looking for true root causes to their issues! Though I was lucky enough to find this parasite, the GI Map is generally hit or miss when it comes to parasites (great for bacteria and other gut markers though).

Do you have joint, skin and autoimmune issues? This may be at play! Let me know below šŸ‘‡šŸ»

Continuing my post series on gut bacteria that may trigger (or at least be a part of the complex picture for) autoimmune disease development!

H. Pylori is a bacteria that likes to burrow down into the stomach lining. It initially causes low stomach acid and many symptoms like heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, burping, etc.

From there, low stomach acid really causes two major pathways for disease development: 1) When stomach acid is low, digestion will be impaired leading to many downstream nutrient deficiencies. 2) Stomach acid is really and truly your body’s first defense against food and water-borne pathogens. When stomach acid is low, it’s not going to do it’s job killing off other bad guys that inevitably will enter the body. This can lead to bacterial overgrowths, parasites, and generally what we call dysbiosis.

Studies show clear correlation between H. Pylori and thyroid autoimmunity (so Grave’s or Hashimoto’s). Thyroid autoimmunity is involved in 90% of low thyroid cases, which is a LOT of people. Many with low thyroid have not been properly tested for autoimmunity, which is such a massive disservice I see going on in western medicine.

Other studies show correlation with gastric autoimmunity and other autoimmune conditions.

Some studies actually show that h. Pylori may be protective in lower levels, but more pathogenic if overgrown. It is the number 1 cause of stomach cancer!

Autoimmune disease is very complex and there is rarely ever just one trigger, so it’s important to test and put together the puzzle pieces in order to truly help solve it or put it into remission. 🧩

I like the GI Map test to assess for this and other autoimmune triggers. šŸ”¬šŸ¦

šŸ“£If you have autoimmune disease, and you don’t know exactly what’s going on in your gut, it’s time to TEST to figure it out!

Gut health is one of the main factors in the development of autoimmune disease. Something called Leaky Gut is known to be the Gateway to Autoimmune Disease. This can be caused by many things, including an imbalance of good:bad bacteria in the gut.

In fact, there are very specific bacteria associated with autoimmune diseases! Today, I want to shine the spotlight on a nasty bacteria called Klebsiella.

Klebsiella produces something called pro-inflammatory Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) that are specifically damaging to the gut and can lead to systemic inflammation when leaky gut is present.

Klebsiella is associated with many autoimmune diseases like ALS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ulcerative Colitis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Reactive Arthritis, and thyroid autoimmunity.

The overgrowth of Klebsiella is common after antibiotic use, and is often implicated with mercury toxicity. It’s also known to produce both ammonia and histamine. šŸ¤§šŸ‘ŽšŸ»

In addition to autoimmune disease, Klebsiella can cause bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and increased gut/body inflammation in general. I have seen this bacteria affect female hormones and reproductive cycle significantly as well.

In my last post, I talked about the many contributing factors to the development of autoimmune disease that can be broken down into 3 main factors that create kind of the perfect storm: 1) Genetics (only makes up about 10% of the risk). 2) Leaky gut (also known as the gateway to autoimmune disease). And 3) An environmental trigger.

Today I want to shine the spotlight on gut health, and specifically on bacteria that are known triggers for autoimmune disease.

Pathogenic overgrowths of ā€œbad bacteriaā€ in the gut can both be part of the cause for leaky gut, as well as the environmental trigger that ā€œbreaks the camel’s backā€, so to speak, and pushes a body across the threshold into autoimmune disease.

Citrobacter is a pathogenic gut bacteria that is specifically associated with RA, but may be implicated in the development of other autoimmune diseases and autoimmune flares if a person already has an autoimmune disease when exposed.

This nasty bacteria produces something called inflammatory Lipopolysaccharides (or LPS) that can cause extreme intestinal and systemic inflammation. It can also cause respiratory, urinary, and blood infections ā˜ ļø

One of the best things you can do for either preventing disease OR healing autoimmune disease, is to test your gut microbiome. My favorite test to assess for citrabacter is the GI Map test. I beg you .... don’t self treat your gut without testing! You can only truly target your root causes of you know what they are.

There are over 100 known autoimmune diseases. Many people suffer for YEARS before getting a diagnosis, and then offered little hope.

I believe autoimmune disease CAN BE HEALED! Why? Because I healed Hashimoto’s through diet + lifestyle. And have massively improved my QOL with Lupus.

If you want to heal a disease, you need to ask what causes it in the first place? The answer to this question for autoimmune disease is: ā€œIt’s complicatedā€. And also very person-specific! But it can be broken down into a few factors that ultimately create the perfect storm:

1. 🧬individual genetic risks. One factor that can play a role includes challenged individual genetic detox pathways. I have this an equal visual representation on my chart, BUT I truly believe genetics are only about 10% of the picture.

2. 🩹Leaky Gut. Also known as the gateway to autoimmune disease. This is where the tight junctions in the gut lining become permanently loose, allowing for things like undigested food, toxins, and pathogens to leak directly leak into the bloodstream. This causes mass systemic inflammation and something called molecular mimicry, where particles leaking through look similar to our own tissues and the body develops an immune response to them. Many factors can be involved in causing leaky gut including gluten, pesticides, pathogens, mold, other toxins, and diet.

3. ā˜ ļøAn environmental trigger. Usually it is more than one. This could be just about anything from gluten to pathogens to mold or heavy metals. All cause disease and have the potential to trigger autoimmunity given the right conditions.

So how do you figure out your root causes to start to unwind autoimmune disease and give your body the best chance to heal? You test to figure out exactly what is going on and exactly what to do about it.

My own root causes were mold, a parasite directly linked to Lupus, low beneficial bacteria in my gut, leaky gut, a history of living in very toxic environments, stress, and some challenging genetics. The perfect storm 🌊

If you have felt hopeless and clueless about how to heal from autoimmune issues, I’d love to help you get some real answers and strategy.

Your microbiome - the trillions of bacteria that make up your digestive tract - impacts EVERYTHING. Gut health is health, y’all! Whether you’ve got skin issues, joint issues, mood issues, brain fog,or hormone issues..... the gut is involved, guaranteed.

One of the keystone beneficial species associate with health is Akkermansia muciniphila. It plays a role in metabolic processes, energy production, and the health of the gut lining.

Low levels of Akkermansia has been found to be linked to metabolic issues like metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and obesity! On the other hand, high levels hav been associate with MS.

Many of my clients are MISSING this important bacteria all together! 😱 If you have blood sugar issues or weight issues despite eating well, this could be a culprit. You can assess your levels through one of my favorite root cause functional lab tests - the GI Map!

I will probably preach this the rest of my days... you can’t heal if you don’t know what you’re healing from! This is why I’m a huge proponent of root cause functional labs to help us figure out the clues to your health puzzle, so we can get some really strategic action steps for you to take to change your health destiny.

Link in my profile to sign up for a complimentary root cause program discovery call if you’d like to learn more about this and other tests I do.

Our Story

Hey there, I’m Pamela!

I became an Epigenetics & Human Potential Coach as a result of my own health journey. By the time I was out of college and working as an Engineer, I had been struggling in my body for twenty years and finally found myself in a place that I was unable to continue on. After being diagnosed with many different auto-immune conditions, and given very little in the way of answers or help from traditional Western Medicine, I embarked on a life-changing journey to learn about my body through the lense of Genetics and create my own wellness path through Epigenetics. Through Genetic Testing & Interpretation, Epigenetic Coaching & Therapies, I now help other health warriors understand their unique genetic makeup and work with them to create an individualized path to optimize their health and change their future.
