December is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge how seasonal changes can influence mental well being. SAD is a form of depression—not simply the “winter blues”—and for some individuals, its impact can be significant. Symptoms typically begin in the fall and winter, follow a recurring pattern and may last several months before easing in the spring and summer.
Common symptoms can include:
• Sad, anxious, or “empty” feelings
• Social withdrawal
• Changes in appetite
• Low energy or disrupted sleep
• Thoughts of su***de
People manage SAD in different ways; some seek support only during the months symptoms appear, while others prefer ongoing care. What matters most is reaching out when you need help. At The Horsham Clinic, our admissions counselors are available 24/7 at 1 800 237 4447.
If you or someone you know is struggling or having thoughts of su***de, it’s important to connect with someone who can offer immediate support, whether that’s a trusted person in your life or a trained professional. You don’t have to navigate these feelings alone. #988

• Aim for a regular bedtime and wake-up time
• Limit screen use before bed
• Create a calming nighttime routine
If sleep challenges persist, reaching out to a mental health professional can make a difference. Healthy sleep is a cornerstone of mental wellness.

Spending the holidays in a hospital can be challenging but at The Horsham Clinic, we work hard to create a festive atmosphere that brings comfort and joy to our patients. Throughout the season, we celebrate all holidays ensuring every patient has something special to look forward to.
These traditions are possible thanks to incredible teamwork and community support. Our Senior Management Team thoughtfully selects gifts for every patient to open and Abbey’s Bakery continues their cherished tradition of providing handmade cards for all. We are deeply grateful for the generous donations from our community partners and neighbors.
These gifts, shared across the hospital, bring extra joy, especially to our children’s and adolescent units, making the season brighter for everyone. Thank you for helping us show our patients and their families that they are never forgotten.

Yesterday marked the shortest day of the year and the official start of winter. This season traditionally calls us to rest, reflect and turn inward. It’s a time to slow down, conserve energy and create space for healing.
At The Horsham Clinic, caring for patients during the winter months reminds us that healing isn’t always about movement or change, it’s often about stillness, patience and presence. Recovery begins quietly, rooted in rest, safety and compassionate connection. As the days gradually grow longer, we honor this pause and the resilience of those we support. Even in the heart of winter, growth is already taking shape.
If you or someone you love is seeking a moment to pause and begin healing, call and speak with an admissions counselor at 1-800-237-4447.

Project DJ (Donate Joy) is a dedicated group of church and community volunteers in Northeast Pennsylvania who craft handmade quilts for children in need. Meeting at Trucksville Methodist Church, they cut, sew and quilt these beautiful blankets with care. Several times a year, they generously donate to The Horsham Clinic.
Both our staff and the children who receive these quilts are deeply grateful for this incredible act of kindness. A heartfelt thank you to all the amazing women who bring warmth and smiles to the children in our care!

Friday mental health check-in. As the week winds down, the combination of changing weather and the holiday season can impact mood, energy and emotional balance. Shorter days, colder temperatures and busy schedules often increase stress or feelings of isolation, especially for those already navigating mental health challenges.
Taking time to notice these changes is an important step toward supporting your well-being. Simple actions like getting natural light, maintaining routines, practicing grounding techniques or planning a small outing can help restore balance. Even a short drive, a mindful walk or a change of scenery can provide relief and perspective.
Mental health care means honoring both rest and movement. Small, intentional choices can make a big difference. Remember, you are not alone. If the holidays or weather feel overwhelming, support is available. Call us anytime at 1-800-237-4447 to speak with a counselor.
As the weekend approaches, we encourage mindfulness, self-compassion and connection, whether that’s quiet rest or an enjoyable activity that nurtures emotional wellness.
