We saw a lot of singing bowls and tongue drums go out of the shop for gifts this year…for both children and adults.
They are so relaxing, but why?

The vibrations that they send out communicate directly with your nervous system, before your mind gets involved and makes you feel safe. It puts your body in rest and digest and takes it out of fight or flight. The sound immediately lets the body let go of anxiety. The high vibrations cancel the frequency of the anxiety or what the mind is thinking.

The tones from singing bowls move the brain toward alpha and theta waves, which are associated with meditation which promotes:

🎶Deep relaxation

🎶Daydreaming

🎶Emotional processing

Your brain literally slows down to match the sound.

This gives the nervous system a chance to relax and the body can then begin do bring itself into balance. There is almost a feeling of being held and a sense of grounding.

The nervous system is constantly asking:“Am I safe?”
Gentle, predictable sound tells the body:“Nothing urgent is happening.”

I have even, first hand, witnessed pain being relieved on the spot from the singing bowls. It’s that powerful.

THIS s what shifts you out of fight-or-flight and into rest-and-digest.

Maybe its time to experience how calming so very quickly, sound bowls can be.
