Specializing in speech sound disorders (CAS, phonological, articulation) and orofacial myofunctional disorders, YSP fosters close knit relationships with clients and families. YSP offers:
PROMPT II level trained, Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), and proficiency in sign language. Erin Gaul MS, CCC-SLP (owner and SLP) can be found in the Apraxia-Kids SLP directory for experienced, expert treatment of CAS as well as the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) directory and is a COM candidate (certified orofacial myologist). Why would we be putting up a post about breathing? Let alone, why being able to hear audible breathing is a sign of airway dysfunction?
Breath 💨 is the anchor to all function
Breath = speech
Breath = posture
Breath = sleep
Breath = resting position
If I can hear your child breathing, there is likely an airway obstruction, functional or structural ➡️turninates, septum, adenoids, tonsils, palate size and shape, etc.
The first referral will be to ENT 👂🏻 👃🏻 👄 to assess and clear the airway BEFORE we begin orofacial myofunctional therapy.

(And yes, I’ve observed ABA multiple times in clinic and in homes!)

My therapy room is not social media ready.

There are toys out, some waiting to be cleaned and some waiting for sessions later in the day.

My hoodie is probably thrown over my desk or my chair.

Paperwork is thrown into folders, so it’s not cluttering up my desk.

Beware the images you see on social media. None of this is perfect. Therapy is not perfect. That should be OK.

Our Story

Specializing in pediatrics, Erin is a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist. Fostering close knit relationships with clients and families is paramount in the therapeutic process. A Gallaudet University graduate, Erin's specialties include Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) populations and all other speech sound/motor speech disorders, as well as Deaf/HOH aural habilitation. Erin is proficient in American Sign Language.

Special trainings include: PROMPT I & II level trained, Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), and proficiency in sign language. You can also find her listed in the CASANA SLP directory for experienced, expert treatment of CAS. Erin also provides orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) for orofacial myofunctional disorders.
