Did you know that, in the past, many people passed away at USDC without a headstone to mark their final resting place?

At the Utah State Developmental Center, we call them our "Never Forgotten Angels."

The USDC Historical Committee is hosting our first Annual Bake Sale to change that. 🧁 All proceeds will go toward building a Memorial and Memory Garden—a sacred space to honor these individuals and provide a place of peace and reflection for our residents and the community.

Help us make sure their names and lives are remembered forever.

About Katie:

Katie has always enjoyed working with people with disabilities. She started at USDC right out of high school as a direct care staff and loved it. She worked in direct care for just under 7 years, and had always wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. She decided to pursue nursing, working at a hospital for her first 2 years as a nurse. According to her, every day felt that she was in the wrong place and she needed to be back at USDC.

She has been with USDC as a nurse for 7 years, and has no doubts that she where she is supposed to be.

It’s important for the people who live here to build skills and have a sense of purpose. Our day programs help work toward those goals!

Some programs work on the development of fine motor skills through simple activities like paper and wood work.

Other programs provide more challenging activities. Our residents can work in cardboard and paper pickup, or delivering mail and supplies on our campus.

Most importantly, we offer personalized positions in our cafe, warehouse, and donation room. These positions allow our residents to:
•Build the skills they need to get jobs in their community.
•Learn money management
•Learn appropriate workplace behavior
•Learn how to have positive interactions with peers and customers.
