Some may have heard the myth that oral contraceptives use in early pregnancy is associated with birth defects. This is not true, as evidenced by a new study of 880,000 births in Denmark. Researchers compared women who never used oral contraceptives with women who stopped using them just before pregnancy and women who used them during early pregnancy. Researchers found that the prevalence of birth defects was the roughly the same for each group of women (25 incidences per 1000 births).
