Cold and clothes, and what to wear or not wear! Here are some tips if you are working, walking, running or hiking out in the cold. The key is keeping your core warm. Cotton is a no go because it absorbs moisture and draws heat away from your body. So synthetic and wool blends are the best options for clothing. I'll share what I wear and how I layer in certain temps starting with the coldest I have run in 5-10Β° degrees... I start with a synthetic short-sleeve base layer, then add my compression arm sleeves. Next, a synthetic long sleeve mid-layer. Synthetic running pants (or tights) and wool socks that pull up to bottom of your calf. Note: On all of these layers they are not real loose, they are somewhat fitted to keep cold air out and away from the body. Last my light-weight, fleece-lined jacket, winter hat and fleece-lined gloves. If it is windy or raining, I add my rain jacket on top of that. As temps go up, you adjust the layers accordingly, and you will get to know what layers work best for you in various conditions. Keep the core warm first. Then cover your head to keep the warmth in your body. Then cover your hands with gloves to keep those fingers warm. Also note: Cold temps will kills battery life in electronic devices very quickly. So keep your phone close to your body in an interior pocket to keep it charged.

Earlier this week, we had our first Women of Worth Bible Study. It was such a good time of fellowship together and time growing deeper in the Lord. For the month of January our focus has been on abiding. What abiding in Christ is and how we do it. Here is a fantastic definition of abiding: "To remain, to stay connected, to dwell in the Lord’s presence; to depend
on Him moment by moment. Allowing His Word to shape our thoughts, desires and decisions. Abiding is not passive – it is a continual posture of surrender and intimacy."
When we abide in Christ we bear fruit, and we can also bear MUCH fruit. Abiding starts with Love - God is Love and the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (full and total wellness) and that takes obedience! And all of this...it all leads to JOY! Joy is also a fruit of the Spirit! And when we abide in Christ continuously, those Fruits grow, but like John 15:5 says, we (all of us branches) have got to stay connected to the Vine for all of it to work. I just wanted to share a little snippet from what we've been focusing on this month. Hope y'all have a wonderful Thursday!

My favorite go-to lunch! Fresh broccoli, carrots, yellow bell pepper, one banana, one boiled egg! It doesn't have to be complicated to be yummy and good for the body. Sauce is a little bit of buffalo and ranch I mixed on the plate, and drink is my own home brew ice coffee. With your sauces - remember to go easy since they do tend to have a lot of junk in them! Ate it all and I am full! What's your favorite lunch?
