Last week, we had the privilege of sponsoring and hosting a Su***de Postvention Training in Polk County, bringing together community leaders and service providers who play an important role in supporting individuals and families after a su***de loss.
Thirty three participants representing 22 local agencies and departments joined us for the training, which was led by a national trainer from NAMI and focused on strengthening how our community responds following a su***de or sudden traumatic death.
Postvention refers to the coordinated support provided to individuals, families, and communities after a su***de. It is also an important part of prevention. When communities respond thoughtfully after a loss, we help reduce isolation, strengthen protective factors, and connect people with care and support.
This training marked an important step in our work to build a shared community response in Polk County that provides caring, coordinated support for individuals and families experiencing a su***de loss.
We are grateful for the strong partnership across our community and the many people working together to strengthen prevention, preparedness, and healing in Polk County. π
This training was made possible through support from the Amery Hospital & Clinic Health & Wellness Fund and proceeds from the Polk County Su***de Awareness Walk.
