A weekend full of pelvic bench technique and the intervertebral disc.
As Gonstead chiropractors we absolutely dig deep into the disc; what it’s made of, how it degenerates, how different discs look from spine to spine, and how we can most effectively help the disc through an adjustment!🤯 So cool!

👻 What we think is spooky in our office is when we hear patients say “I get headaches often but that’s common for me”👻

AH❕ Just because headaches have been labeled “common” does not mean they are normal!

Headaches are a sign your nervous system is stressed and dysregulated. They may present in different ways for each patient so it’s important we learn all about which type of headache you have.

Don’t be spooked by headaches! Get your nervous system and spine assessed ASAP!

Many times we hear patients say they have sciatica and it’s not “true” sciatica. When we hear sciatica we think pain/tingling/numbness that follows a certain pattern and is only in the lower body.

Sciatica is pressure on certain nerves that create pain down one or both legs and typically goes down to the foot.

By analyzing the whole spine, running the nervoscope, checking X-Rays, checking motion in the spine and assessing gait, we can determine the problem area in the spine. Without all these tools the nerve pressure may not properly be relieved which down the road creates more issues.

If your chiropractor doesn’t run a nervoscope or take an X-ray; let’s chat😉

The temporomandibular joint is what connects your lower jaw to your skull. The disc, along with ligaments, helps your jaw to move freely.

Chewing excessively, opening your mouth for long periods of time, clenching, etc., can lead to jaw pain and the disc misaligning which can at times cause a clicking sound as well as pain.

Before we check the movement of the jaw we first will check your cervical spine to ensure there is no nerve pressure. At times the pain can be coming from the cervical spine so it’s essential to check it first.

Once the cervical spine is free of nerve interference we meticulously asses the jaw by watching and feeling the movement when you open and close your mouth.
The joint is sturdy once again after an adjustment!

Your nervous system controls every cell, organ and tissue in your body.

Muscles fall into the tissue category and of course there are many different types of tissues! When a muscle is tight, sore, stiff, etc. instead of thinking solely on the muscle itself; think about what is controlling that muscle.

Nerves! 💡

Your nerves innervate the muscles. A sore, tight muscle is what you feel but what about the nerve that is supplying that muscle?
Get to the root cause and help the nervous system! Help the nerves that innervate the muscle then you can start helping the muscle itself with massage, stretching, etc.

Help your nervous system to help your muscles 💪🏽
