A new patient came in recently for an initial consultation and she was feeling really confused about how seriously she should take the decision to try botox for the first time.

She felt conflicted because she saw herself as a “I’d never do that” kind of girl, but recently she noticed frown lines etched between her eyebrows where they hadn’t been before.

She found herself wondering, “how big of a deal is this?!”

We had a funny but enlightening conversation about how screwed we’d be if we didn’t like the results from a variety of treatments, including nail polish, hair dye, Botox, and filler, topping it off with facelift surgery.

After our chat, I decided to make a scale for anyone else wondering the same things.

I tried to treat myself to a brow tint and I walked out looking like Bert from Sesame Street.

My husband, who hadn't known I was going, took one look at me and said, "what the !@ #$ did you do to your face?!?!"

This is exactly what my patients are afraid of when they seek treatment with Botox or fillers for the first time!

I get it, I've been there, and there are ways to prevent this kind of buyer's remorse.

The first being have a detailed and thorough consultation, make sure your worst fears are addressed, and the provider feels like a good fit for you.

Tell me your eyebrow story in the comments...we all have one! 🤣

1. Patients are pumped about skin health. Laser treatments are the most effective option for improving skin surface health, and I’ve been blown away by how enthusiastic my patients are about that.

2. Patients are not bothered by the down time. Even my most intense laser treatment patients have been happy to have the down time because it offers great results.

3. Even the most hesitant people are actually open to laser treatments.I have friends that “would never do Botox” who say they’d consider a laser treatment.

4. Expectations are still key. As in any treatment I do, it’s absolutely imperative that my patients know what to expect during the healing process, as well as for results.

That's why I recommend having a consultation for laser treatment, even if you're an established patient.

It's like saying that paint makes paintings.

It's a necessary ingredient, but it's all in the artist.

1. Botox relaxes muscles in the area it is injected. We can inject some areas and not others, depending on your anatomy and concerns. The amount of muscle relaxation is also dose-dependent, so we can use smaller doses for a less "frozen" look.

2. Results last about 3 months and then treatment must be repeated to maintain the result. If you choose not to repeat treatment, nothing bad will happen (other than your original wrinkles coming back). You can stop any time.

3. Botox will not make your wrinkles worse. It will just soften them while you have treatment, and then if you stop they will return as before.

4. I specialize in natural results, so it's not obvious you've had treatment.

5. This is a crazy trend I'm seeing on social media and it is decidedly NOT safe to buy products and inject yourself. This is how you can get not only poor aesthetic results, but infection and serious complications. It is not legal to buy your own product and self-inject.

What rumors have you heard?? Put them in the comments and I'll let you know if its myth or reality!
