This is my CO2 laser CoolPeel journey.

Before, I used topical numbing which is why I’m a bit shiny in the photo.

Right after, it felt hot like a sunburn, but I went on with my day and was able to function fine.

The next day I was completely comfortable. A bit puffy around the eyes and my skin was a bit red in a grid pattern as you can see in the photo.

On day 2 I went to see Hamilton in Boston and didn’t think twice about it!

The following days my skin looked normal but was rough to the touch.

By day 7 it was smooth as a baby’s bottom!

This treatment is best for routine skin maintenance, lifting brown spots, and improving skin texture.

There are 4 main considerations...

(But first, share this post with a friend who thinks lip filler can't look natural!)

⛰️ Amount: your lips are a closed system, like a tube of toothpaste. Depending on the size of the tube, if you try to squash too much toothpaste in, it'll work its way out over time. This is called 'migration' and is responsible for a lot of the bad results you see in the wild.

💐 Type of product: There are varying types of fillers that can be used, and the type should be chosen by an experienced provider based on your unique lip characteristics and your goals. Don't choose a product based on what your friend got, or what's on sale.

🗺️ Location: Your anatomy will indicate where is best to place the filler and how much. If your unique anatomy is not respected, your result could be out of balance with the rest of your face. This is the "duck lip" phenomenon.

⏰ Timeline: We only repeat lip filler treatments if and when your photos show that your face can handle more lip volume and still look balanced. We never do filler on a specific timeline, as this results in too much filler and unnatural results. After over three years of full time practice, I have never seen photographic results that suggest a patient's lip filler has "dissolved" over time.

Remember, you don't notice the natural lip filler results that you see every day, because they look natural!

"What should I be doing to age well?"

I get this question a lot, often from patients who I think are half expecting me to begin listing off treatments and procedures they "should" do.

But as a healthcare provider, that's not how I work.

My first priority is your safety, so within the context of your overall health and wellness, the only thing I believe you "should" do is wear sunscreen and Vitamin A.

These will not only help you age confidently, but prevent skin cancers which are on the rise.

Beyond that, you should do whatever you want to do, can afford to do, and will actually make a difference in how you feel about yourself.

Anything else is a waste of time and money.
