How’s your posture in the car? 🚗

If you’re commuting daily, your car seat setup could be contributing to neck pain, back pain, and stiffness — especially if it’s not adjusted to your body.

As chiropractors, we see it all the time: hours of driving with poor support = unnecessary spinal stress.

Here’s how to set your seat up properly:

✔️ Sit upright with your hips all the way back in the seat
✔️ Slight recline (about 100–110°) — don’t sit bolt upright or too far back
✔️ Knees level with or slightly lower than hips
✔️ Steering wheel within comfortable reach (no locking your elbows)
✔️ Headrest positioned to support the middle of the back of your head
✔️ Lumbar support snug against your lower back

Your spine should maintain its natural curves — even behind the wheel.

Bonus tip: On long drives, stop every 60–90 minutes to stretch and move. Your spine thrives on motion!

Small adjustments can make a big difference in preventing chronic discomfort.

Are you a side sleeper? Try sleeping on your side with a knee-pillow between your knees to support spinal alignment, reduce lower back strain and keeps your hips from being rotated during your sleep.

Are you a stomach sleeper? Try putting a pillow underneath your hips between your belly button and wide part of your hips, this will ensure that you are not increasing your lumbar curve which puts further strain on your low back.

Standing desks are a great tool — but only if you’re using them correctly!

As chiropractors, we love seeing patients take steps toward better posture and less strain at work. Alternating between sitting and standing can:

✔️ Reduce pressure on your lower back
✔️ Improve posture awareness
✔️ Boost circulation
✔️ Decrease stiffness throughout the day

But here’s the key: standing all day isn’t the goal either.

👉 Keep your screen at eye level
👉 Elbows at 90 degrees
👉 Weight evenly distributed on both feet
👉 Slight bend in your knees (don’t lock them!)
👉 Shift positions every 30–60 minutes

Your spine thrives on movement — not staying in one position for hours.
