We are proud to employ over 500 local Western New Yorkers. As our organization continues to grow, our leadership team and providers are dedicated to continuing to provide superior comprehensive care to every patient. Excelsior Orthopaedics, LLP was officially formed in 2002 from the merger of Western New York Orthopaedic Group and Amherst-Tonawanda Orthopaedics.

This week, as we highlight pioneers in medicine from the Black community, we recognize the lasting impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). 📚

🏛️Howard University established the first Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physician Assistant programs among HBCUs — expanding access to healthcare education and creating pathways for generations of diverse providers.

HBCUs continue to play a vital role in advancing opportunity, increasing representation in medicine, and strengthening communities across the country.

✨ Celebrating Black History Month ✨

Meet Dr. Marsha Grant-Ford, a true trailblazer in athletic training! She’s the first female African American athletic trainer in the U.S. and for the NBA. From earning her certification in 1975 to completing her PhD in Kinesiology and Athletic Training in 2001, Dr. Grant-Ford has broken barriers, advanced research, and inspired generations.

Her legacy continues with the “Dr. Marsha Grant-Ford EDAC Distinguished Research Award” from the National Athletic Training Association and an endowed scholarship at East Stroudsburg University. A pioneer, educator, and role model—her impact is unmatched. 🖤💪
