🌍🏒 Excelsior Goes Abroad!
Excelsior Orthopaedics Certified Athletic Trainer Jim Starkey, a proud St. Francis High School alumnus, recently returned to his alma mater in a new role- traveling with the St. Francis Prep Hockey Team to Sweden! ❤️🤍
“It was nostalgic for many reasons,” Jim shared. “I was an athlete during my time as a student at SFHS, and I was honored to be asked by the team to accompany them on their trip as a Certified Athletic Trainer.”
The team was based in Stockholm and faced elite U18 Swedish teams—including Huddinge IK, IF Sundsvall, Södertälje, and Boo HC—finishing the trip with a 2–2 record.
Beyond the ice, the athletes explored Sweden’s culture and built lifelong memories a highlight for Jim, who said, “Seeing the camaraderie among the players and knowing they’re creating lifelong friendships made me proud to be an alum.”
“Being able to serve my alma mater and give back to the community that shaped me was the most rewarding part of this experience.”
