Overuse injuries are becoming increasingly common in youth sports, often driven by repetitive motions, year-round training, early sport specialization, and pressure to “play through pain”

All of these can lead to:
💥stress fractures
💥tendonitis
💥growth plate injuries
💥chronic pain

These can follow kids long past the season—or even end their athletic careers early.

Physical therapy plays a critical role in changing that story!!

Young athletes will receive age-appropriate care and evidence-based treatment that focuses not just on recovery strategies that protect developing joints and tissues, but on prevention.

Scheduling your young athlete for a PT evaluation and movement screen will keep them in the game!!

🦴Women And Bone Health🦴

🦴Did you know that women’s bone density peaks anywhere from their late 20s-early 30s?

🦴After that point bone density naturally begins to decline-on average by 1-2% each year before menopause and 2-3% each year in early menopause.

🚨This significantly increases the risk of Osteopenia, Osteoperosis, falls, and fractures of the hips, spine and wrists.

🏋️‍♀️Why Strength Training Matters!🏋️‍♀️

💪🏼Resistance and weight bearing exercises stimulate bone forming cells (osteoblasts) to lay down new bone tissue.

💪🏼Stronger muscles improve balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls and fractures.

💪🏼Strength training improves bone density at the hips and spine, the most common sites of oateoporotic fractures.

So what does this mean?:

STRENGTH TRAIN!! 2-3 times per week is the recommended dose, and you don’t have to go to a gym. Start at home with dumbbell weights or body weight if this is too challenging.

⭐️do slow, controlled movements
⭐️6-12 repetitions per set (you should be making noises and funny faces towards the end 😜)
⭐️choose full body resisted movements like:
•squats
•hip hinge (deadlift, kettlebell swing)
•horizontal press (chest press, bench press, push up)
•overhead press (shoulder press)
•horizontal pull (seated row, bent over row)
•overhead pull (lat pull down, assisted pull ups)
