How strength protects your joints đź’Ş

Weak muscles make joints work harder, which can lead to pain and irritation. Strong muscles help absorb stress, improve movement, and support your joints during everyday activities.

The good news? Strength can improve at any age, and the right exercises can make a big difference.

📞 If joint pain is limiting you, physical therapy can help. Call PPT to learn more or schedule an evaluation: 985-748-7878

What does a therapy session actually look like? đź‘€

Many people imagine therapy as painful exercises or complicated equipment—but most sessions are much more comfortable and personalized than you might expect.

A typical physical or occupational therapy session may include:
• Talking with your therapist about how you’re feeling and what you’re experiencing
• Hands-on treatment to reduce pain, swelling, or stiffness
• Guided exercises to improve strength, balance, or coordination
• Practicing real-life activities to make everyday tasks easier
• Education on posture, movement, and ways to prevent future problems

Every session is tailored to YOU—your goals, your comfort level, and the things you want to get back to doing.

Therapy isn’t about pushing through pain. It’s about steady progress, encouragement, and helping you move and function with confidence.

Pelvic floor therapy is a specialized form of therapy that helps strengthen, relax, and improve coordination of the muscles that support your bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. When these muscles aren’t working properly, it can lead to symptoms like urinary leakage, pelvic pain, pressure, pain with activity, or difficulty returning to normal exercise after pregnancy or surgery.

Pelvic floor therapy can help:
• Improve bladder and bowel control
• Reduce pelvic pain and pressure
• Support recovery during and after pregnancy
• Improve core strength and stability
• Help you return to the activities you love with confidence

Many people live with these symptoms longer than they need to, but help is available. Our pelvic floor therapy providers at PPT offer compassionate, private, and personalized care to help you feel your best.

Call us today for more information or to get scheduled with one of our pelvic floor therapy providers at PPT. We’re here to help! 985-748-7878

Everyday tasks = therapy đź’Ş

Therapy doesn’t stop when you leave the clinic.
In fact, some of the most effective therapy happens during your normal day.

Things like:
• Getting in and out of a chair
• Carrying groceries
• Reaching into cabinets
• Walking the hallway or driveway
• Standing to cook or do dishes
• Climbing stairs

When done with the right technique, these everyday movements build strength, improve balance, and protect your joints.

Physical and occupational therapists help you learn how to move smarter, not harder — so daily tasks become opportunities for progress instead of sources of pain.

Small movements, repeated often, lead to big changes.

PT vs OT: What’s the difference? 🤔

Both physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) help people move better, feel stronger, and live more independently — but they focus on different parts of function.

Physical Therapy (PT) focuses on:
• Reducing pain
• Improving strength, balance, and mobility
• Walking, transfers, and fall prevention
• Recovery after injury, surgery, or illness

Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on:
• Daily activities (getting dressed, bathing, cooking)
• Hand strength and coordination
• Energy conservation and safety
• Adaptive equipment and home modifications

The goal is the same: helping you live life with confidence — just through different approaches.

Many patients benefit from both PT and OT, especially when mobility and daily tasks are affected.

📞 Not sure which one you need? That’s okay. An evaluation helps us determine the best path for you. 985-748-7878

Professional Physical Therapy

Welcome to Professional Physical Therapy (PPT), we are a locally owned and independent private clinic that has been serving the needs of families throughout Tangipahoa Parish since 1993.

We are a “therapist owned” clinic, which means our primary concern is that each patient receives the personalized attention they deserve and the best cost-conscious care you find anywhere in the area.

Our dedicated and caring staff will help create an individualized treatment program to help you with your acute symptoms, eventually correcting the problem and then providing you with the resources to help you live life to the fullest.
