Brenda Carolyn Turner, a beloved and vibrant spirit born on September 19, 1953, in the quaint town of Amory, Mississippi, departed for her heavenly home on December 21, 2025. She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Brenda's early education took root at the esteemed Hatley School, where her enduring zest for life began to blossom. Throughout her existence, she epitomized a passionate engagement with the world around her, reveling in activities like bingo and penny auctions at The Meadows, where she was a cherished member of the Resident Council. Her personality radiated warmth and camaraderie, making her home a sanctuary for laughter and joy during times spent with family and friends.

Nothing brought Brenda greater delight than the company of her loved ones, be it the laughter shared over delectable meals or the lively discourse inspired by visits from family. To her core, she treasured the bonds formed through connections and experiences, confirming that most important to her were the family and friends she so dearly loved. Her fondness for animals reflected her tender heart, as did her penchant for watching Westerns, Hallmark movies, and game shows, often accompanied by the familiar laughter of those dear to her.

Brenda is survived by her beloved brother, Ricky Franks, along with his wife, Carol; her devoted sister, Cheryl Irwin; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins, each of whom held a cherished place in her heart. She exemplified a spirit of camaraderie and kindness that drew others to her, evidenced by her close friendships with Tiffany Knight, Lois Bell, Julee Stepp, and Diane Dill, all of whom added richness to her life.

Brenda was preceded in death by her daughter, Jamie E. Turner; her parents, Jack and Nell Franks; and her brother, Jerry A. Franks and her nephew, Jerry L. Franks. Their memories will forever remain entwined with hers, creating an eternal tapestry of love and remembrance.

In her lifetime, Brenda had a way of expressing her thoughts and feelings, often with delightful phrases such as "Holy Moly," "I'm not dumb," and "It's you again," which have now become cherished echoes of her vibrant personality.

To honor her life and legacy, a Visitation will be held on December 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, followed by a Celebration of Life starting at 11:30 AM. Brenda will be laid to rest at Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Franks, Colby Franks, Tony Franks, Donnie Franks, Aidan Franks, David Adams, and Alan Adams.

Brenda Carolyn Turner will be remembered as a passionate soul with an everlasting love for her family and friends. Her indomitable spirit and dedication to enjoying the simple pleasures of life have left an indelible mark that will continue to bring smiles for generations to come.

Bro. Mont Dale Whitlock, a devoted United Methodist preacher with a remarkable 50-year career in ministry, passed away peacefully at his residence in Nettleton, Mississippi, on December 18, 2025. Born on October 17, 1935, in Pine Grove, Mississippi, he embodied a life dedicated to serving others and enriching the spiritual lives of countless individuals across multiple communities.

A proud alumnus of Ole Miss, Dale earned his bachelor’s degree before furthering his education with a master’s degree from Memphis Theological Seminary. His commitment to his faith journey saw him become an “Elder” in the United Methodist Church, as well as a distinguished 32nd Degree Mason. His contributions to the church and widespread revivals extended beyond traditional preaching, as he was also passionate about television ministry on the Fulton and Tupelo stations, reaching audiences far and wide.

In addition to his academic achievements and pastoral duties, Dale served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard, exemplifying dedication and leadership in both military and civilian life.

Dale's commitment to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his loving wife Annette Whitlock, to whom he was married on May 4, 1956. Together, they raised a family that includes their son, Roger Whitlock (Marsha) of Little Rock, MS, and their daughter, Kelli Whitlock Lindsey (Kirk). Dale took great joy in his role as a grandfather, cherishing his grandchildren Morgan Morris (Aaron) and Brett Smith (W.T.), both of Little Rock, MS. He relished the moments spent with his great-grandchildren, Colton and Miley Morris, and Riggins, Rivers, and JT Smith, often traveling to watch them play sports, which brought him immense happiness.

Throughout his life, Dale maintained a variety of interests. He was an avid woodcarver, an art that reflected his creativity and patience. Additionally, he was known in the local community for his skill as a fast-pitch softball pitcher, gaining respect and admiration from peers and players alike.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Louise Roberts Whitlock, and two siblings, Jean Young and Don Whitlock. His legacy, marked by a profound commitment to faith, family, and community, will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends and family are invited to honor Dale's life and legacy during a visitation on December 21, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi, with Bro. John Kramer and Tommy Tacker officiating. He will be laid to rest with dignity in New Chapel Cemetery, Nettleton, MS. Pallbearers will be Dee Whitlock, Rod Whitlock, Nathan Moore, Tommy Tacker, Skip Francis, Aaron Morris, WT Smith, Michael Fly. Honorary Pallbearers will be Colton Morris, Carroll Pettigrew and John Johnson.

Special thanks are extended to Gentiva Hospice and Right at Home for their compassionate care during Dale's final days. His life and ministry have left an indelible mark on the hearts of many, and he will be deeply missed.

Willie Walden Allred, a devoted family man and a respected member of his community, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 16, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on November 17, 1929, in Quincy, Mississippi, Willie lived a life characterized by his unwavering faith and strong familial bonds.

Willie proudly served his country during World War II, where he was stationed in Germany. His bravery and dedication to service were a point of pride throughout his life. After returning from his military service, he embarked on a fruitful career, working with General Motors, Nash Motors, and Pipe Line Work 798. Willie was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence in everything he did.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Willie cherished spending time tending to his yard and gardening, activities that brought him immense joy and served as a testament to his nurturing spirit. He was a god-fearing man, deeply passionate about reading the Bible, which guided his actions and interactions with those around him.

Willie will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, with his proudest accomplishments being his family and their shared memories. He is survived by his daughter Dianne Tibbett and grandchildren Bonnie Buchanan (Mark), Tracy Shanklin (Dan), Matthew Irvin (Courtney), Joe Allred, Shree Allred, Stevie Allred, Alex Buchanan, Trey Edgil; brother, Jimmy Allred; and a host of great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Alene Allred; second wife, Gladys Baker, his son, Gary Steve Allred, his mother, Colie Doshie Allred, and father, Jim Allred, along with siblings, Marie Reeves, James Roy Allred, Johnny Allred, Mary Harris, Jimmy Allred, Charles Allred, and Clara Mae Hurley.

Willie's brother, Jimmy Allred, was his closest companion, and their bond provided support and camaraderie throughout their lives. This cherished friendship was a significant aspect of Willie's journey.

Linda "Ree" Marie Hunsucker Thomas, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and friend, passed away on December 11, 2025, at her residence. Born on November 8, 2001, in Amory, Ree filled the world around her with joy and love during her short yet impactful life.

Ree was a proud graduate of Amory High School, where she shined as a vibrant member of the school band, an accomplishment that brought her immense joy and pride. Her love for music didn't end there; it echoed throughout her life, whether she was singing commercials or simply sharing her beautiful voice with those she loved. Her contagious smile and adventurous spirit made every moment spent with her a treasure to behold. She had an unwavering desire to try new things and embrace life to the fullest.

She shared a deep bond with her husband, Dylan Thomas, being a perfect partner for three unforgettable years filled with laughter, love, and adventures. Their relationship was a testament to true companionship, grounded in shared joys and cherished memories. Dylan, along with her sisters, Mandi Elam (Josh) and Stacy Shinault (Josh), were a vital part of her life, offering love and support that enriched her days.

Ree found solace and happiness in simple pleasures—watching anime with her treasured friends Natalie Criddle and Makenna Wise, reading books, and cultivating a love for nature that was reflected in her adoration for bluebells and lotus flowers. Each bloom reminded her of life’s beauty, and she carried that beauty into every interaction, leaving an indelible impact on all who knew her.

Ree will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, especially by her family and friends who continue to carry her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Eastman Hunsucker, and her beloved grandparents, whose spirits she will join in eternity.

Michael "Mike" Earl Stevens, a treasured soul whose love for his family and faith ran deep, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at his home in Fulton, Mississippi. He was born on June 12, 1964, at Gilmore Hospital in Amory, Mississippi, and from that day forward, he filled the lives of those around him with warmth, laughter, and compassion.

Mike dedicated his career to the environment by working as an Environmental Consultant for his father, a role that allowed him to honor his family's legacy while contributing positively to the world around him. His commitment to his profession mirrored the dedication he showed in all aspects of his life, particularly when it came to spending time with those he loved most.

Education shaped formative years, culminating at Smithville High School, where he laid the groundwork for a life filled with curiosity and a passion for learning. As an adult, he found great joy in nurturing both his personal interests and his spiritual life. An active member of King City Church in Tupelo, Mississippi, Mike was a man who loved Jesus deeply and shared that love generously with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He dedicated countless hours to reading his Bible and immersing himself in gospel music—elements of his life that provided both comfort and joy.

In addition to his faith, Mike was a lifelong fan of Alabama Football and enjoyed the thrill of NASCAR races, eagerly sharing these experiences with friends and family. As he cheered for his favorite teams, he created lasting memories that would be cherished by those who joined him.

Mike was the proud son of Bobby Joe and Patty Jo Stevens, who nurtured his loving spirit and instilled in him the values of generosity and kindness. He leaves behind his siblings, Ken (Brandi) Stevens, along with several nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and dedication.

Family was undoubtedly Mike’s proudest accomplishment, and he understood the beauty of togetherness. His presence in their lives was a gift, one that will be sorely missed yet fondly remembered.
A visitation will take place on December 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi, followed by a Celebration of Life from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell Minga, Jim Murphree, Phillip Standefer, David Reese, Phil Reese, and Eddie Leech.

As we gather to honor and remember Mike, we will celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many and inspired those around him to pursue love and faith with the same fervor he did. Carol June Smith, departed from this world on December 8, 2025, at Diversicare in Amory, Mississippi. Born on August 25, 1936, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Carol graced the lives of many with her warm spirit and unwavering kindness.

A proud graduate of Victory High School in Clarksburg, West VA, she carried the lessons of her youth throughout her life. Carol dedicated a notable chapter of her career to Lustro Plastic Manufacturing in Akron, Ohio, where her contributions were esteem-worthy and worthy of tribute.

Her personality was unmistakable; she was a woman who never met a stranger, fostering connections that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Known for her loving and caring nature, Carol was always there for her family. Her greatest pride was raising her children, a testament to her dedication and strength as a mother.

Carol is survived by her beloved son, Charles Frye (Nancy) of Akron, OH, and her cherished daughter, Vickie Smith of Amory, MS. She also leaves behind her brother, Archie McInnes (Kitty) of Tallmadge, OH, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will undoubtedly carry her legacy forward.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Charles Frye and Bill Smith, as well as her parents, David Sloan and Leona Daniels McInnes. Carol was also predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Caloccia, and her two brothers, Samuel McInnes and David McInnes, all of whom hold a cherished place in her heart.

Carol found joy in simpler pleasures, often indulging in smoking ci******es, drinking coffee, and watching television while relishing the company of her loved ones. Her life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love, laughter, and warmth, embodying a spirit that made a profound impact on all fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation will be held at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi, on December 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Amory Historical Cemetery, with a burial ceremony commencing at 12:00 PM.

Thyrza “Onita” Sullivan, 93 passed away peacefully at Diversicare Amory, December 6, 2025.

Onita was born on July 16, 1932, in Smithville, MS to John A Jones and Estella Frederick Jones. She attended school at Hatley, MS. Onita married Herschel Ray Sullivan in 1948. She shared a love for family, fishing, camping, and gardening with Herschel for 61 years until his death in 2009. Onita was an Amory Walmart associate for a number of years until her retirement. Prior to Walmart she was a longtime employee of Glenn Manufacturing until their closure.

Onita was an excellent cook. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. You never left her house hungry. She loved keeping her yard and house immaculate. Onita was a long-time active member of Trinity Baptist Church. Her faith, family and friends were important to Onita.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel, her parents, John A. Jones and Estella Jones and her brother and sister-in-law, Lendon and Afton Jones.

She is survived by her son, Danny R. Sullivan (Shirley), Amory, MS; daughter, Debra Saxon, Bay Springs, MS; grandchildren, Jason Sullivan (Virginia) Huntsville Al, John Sullivan, Kyle Henry, Redwood City, CA, Holly Swan (Gunter) Bay Springs, MS; great grandchildren, Evren, Ada and Jane Sullivan, and Harli Miller Cotten. Also, nephews, Kenny, Phil and Greg Jones.

The family would like to acknowledge Judy Hatcher, longtime friend and caregiver of Onita. We are also grateful to the staff of Diversicare Amory for the love and care they gave Onita.

Loraine Ardella Chism, 84, born on August 1, 1941, in Superior, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, at her daughter's residence in Smithville, Mississippi. She was the beloved daughter of Myrtle Pleau Tahtinen and Harold William Tahtinen.

She graduated from High School in Superior, Wisconsin and moved to Mississippi. On August 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to her cherished husband, Bill Chism, with whom she shared a remarkable 55 years of love and companionship. He was her best friend, partner, constant companion. Their life together was filled with love, loyalty, a quiet strength with a bond that stood the test of time. They were blessed by God with three children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She worked for many years at the Amory Walmart where her
dedication was evident throughout her career. At work she embraced the genuine bonds formed among her coworkers, who became like a second family to her. Her exceptional customer service and radiant smile brightened the day for countless patrons, showcasing her passion for serving the public.

Beyond her professional life, Loraine was an avid lover of the outdoors, finding joy and solace in the beauty of God's creations. Her yard was meticulously cared for through the years. Loraine cherished the moments spent shopping with family and friends and was particularly known for her unwavering support and enthusiasm for her grandchildren's activities. She attended school events and sporting competitions with pride, embodying the role of the proudest Mamaw, who always wore a smile. Her laughter and warmth brought people together, embodying the essence of a family matriarch.

In addition to family gatherings and shopping, Loraine had a passion for watching Nascar and drag racing, often attending the events in person. These experiences supercharged her life and provided opportunities for travel and creating great memories with loved ones.

Loraine was the best "Mamaw" and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her unwavering love for her family, her strong faith, and her spirited nature will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Loraine is survived by her loving son, Kenneth "Ken" Chism; her daughter, Sheila Chism; and her son-in-law, Bobby Gosa. She was a proud grandmother to Alisha Parham and her husband Drew, Brian Berryman and his wife Tabitha, Jayson Gosa, and Tanya Gosa. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Isaac, Drew, and Molly Houk; Caden, Emersyn, and Yeates Parham; Aaliyah, Kylie, and Bentley Berryman; and Tomas, Damian, Maria, Miguel, and Juan Gosa.

Loraine joins her dearly departed family members including her beloved husband, Bill Chism, mother, Myrtle Pleau Tahtinen, father, Harold William Tahtinen, daughter, Linda Gosa, and brothers Jim and David Tahtinen, as well as her sisters, Doris and Arlene Tahtinen.

A visitation will be held in her honor from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on December 8, 2025, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS. A graveside service will be held at Greenbrier Cemetery, Becker, MS at 2:30 PM with Bro. Robert Fowlkes officiating. Frances E. Gladney Rost, born on January 18, 1942, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, departed to her heavenly home on December 2, 2025, in Ripley, Mississippi. Frances lived a life richly woven with purpose and love, marked by her unwavering devotion to her family and her robust career with McCoy's and the BN Railroad.

She was a proud matriarch, blessed with six children, thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her legacy is one of profound familial bonds and enduring faith, nurtured throughout her remarkable journey.

Frances shared a remarkable connection with her husband, Sonny Rost, with whom she celebrated sixty-four years of love and companionship. Together they crafted a home filled with laughter and warmth, serving as the steadfast foundation for their growing family. Frances’ devotion to her husband and family illuminated her life, fostering a nurturing environment bound by affection and solidarity.

An individual of many interests, Frances found solace in the pages of books, embraced the serenity of gardening, and, above all, relished the time spent with her loved ones. Each moment was a gift, capturing the essence of her spirit—a woman who prioritized family and faith above all else.

Frances is survived by her loving children, Gwen Gilmore, Mike Rost, Cheryl Rost, Robbie Rost, Shane Rost, and Devin Rost; siblings, Wayne Gladney, Buddy Gladney, and Brenda Watkins, along with her sister-in-law, Joyce Conner, thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Rost, and her dear parents, Bufford Gladney and Wendell Lou (Dowdle) Gladney, as well as her sisters Myrle Pruitt and Joyce Corbine, and daughter-in-law, Tina Rost.
