We had such a wonderful time cobb public school!
Thank you to all of the students who joined the Native Connections team- we truly enjoyed spending the afternoon with you. It was great to see everyone creating medicine pouches and learning how to make hand drums. The creativity, respect, and enthusiasm made the event so special.
A big thank you to Whitney Lewis at Fort Cobb for welcoming us and helping make this event possible. We also want to thank Norman Clark for teaching the young men how to make hand drums and for sharing his knowledge and skills.
We are so excited to continue partnering with Fort Cobb on these meaningful events through the Native Connections grant we are honored to share important conversations about substance misuse prevention, su***de prevention and strengthening our youth through culture and community.
thank you again for allowing us to be part of your day. We look forward to the next one.

I am always so grateful for Kiowa Tribal Princess Tegan for representing her tribe and her people so beautifully within our school systems and alongside the Native Connections program within the school. 🫢🏽✨

She spoke in front of her peers at Apache High School, and the students absolutely LOVED her regalia, her story, her purpose, and her powerful message about being a Princess while prioritizing mental wellness. She carries herself with such strength, culture, and heart. 🀎

A special thank you to her parents, Leah Lucero Gouge, for raising such a beautiful and inspiring young woman. She is truly doing an amazing job walking in her purpose and fulfilling her role as Princess. ✨🫢🏽
