DMC wants to congratulate our Volunteer Angela (pictured left with DMC Volunteer Coordinator, Raquel Velarde, right) who reached 55 hours of volunteer service for our Blind/Low-Vision Services program.

In May 2026, Angela will be approaching her 1 year of service. She has been using
AT device (Talking Label Wand) to label (OIB) items for older individuals who are blind and storage container in the storage area.

Volunteering at DMC helps provide support to our organization, while learning skills, connecting with community peers and also growing work experience, making new friends and knowing you're making a difference.

Ah... to take a shower. We see you - getting ready for work. You may take your shower for granted. Here we see a before and after modification for a consumer who just couldn't navigate having easy access because of limiting glass shower doors.

A home modification can make all the difference based on the individual's needs. For others it might look like no doors or curtain like the one on our DMC HOME ACCESS FLYER: https://daylemc.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Home-Access-Flyer.pdf

If it has been awhile for you browsing our website, you may want to check out all of our success stories and access some important resources to learn just how much having accessibility can mean in providing independence toward living the life you choose! https://daylemc.org/home-access/

They say a circle of trust is everything - a circle of support, life-changing, and a circle unified in making a difference together - impactful! As you've seen from our of "support" from this month - support is key to DMC.

We at DMC are very proud to remember that our activist and advocate ancestors who are responsible for starting our organization in 1977 created circles of support since even before our own doors were open.

It is with this in 2026 we have optimism that DMC's CIRCLE OF SUPPORT donor subscriber sponsor program can be all of the above from this concept conceived by our founders- something we can trust in and count on with the impact to our consumers we serve and all of us unified in making an impact for our own community.

If we don't take care of ourselves and start in our own backyard - what will that mean for our community of people with disabilities, older adults and Veterans - a community that is growing exponentially EVERY SINGLE DAY?!

Help us create a circle of sustainability in support to continue to provide additional outreach and resources as our own community doubles.

Please help us distribute and share our flyer
https://daylemc.org/.../12/DMC-Circle-of-Support-12.2026.pdf

We have a lot of work to do in the year ahead and your love and support within your own networks just by SHARING THIS POST AND FORWARDING IT can help us. In the flyer - you gain understanding of the powerful impact you can make with your donation.

Sign up EARLY and commit to being part of our Circle of Support Network and you automatically qualify for our prize opportunity drawing this fall for our Attitude of Gratitude fundraiser! Whoo hoo!

Support to Creating Accessibility: Ivan Cortez, DMC's Lead Home and Community Access Coordinator met with Stacy Lumley, Analyst for City of Laguna Niguel at Laguna Niguel Senior Center to speak about DMC’s partnership with the City.

It is a tough reality that more of our community needs access as our population of people with disabilities and older adults aging requiring access soar beyond 700,000 individuals.

In the City of Laguna Niguel where more than 22.4% of the older adult population exist and as of the Census data just four years ago, 260,359 receive health care and social assistance - It is important to provide access removing barriers, as accessibility need continues to grow. DMC and the City of Laguna Niguel have a home access modification partnership to serve a growing, critical need where Laguna Niguel residents with disabilities and older adults often face barriers to living safely and independently in their homes.

Working together matters and when we support a mutual goal - we can make things better.

Support to Inspire and Be Inspired: Growing advocacy, education, independence and access for our future matters to DMC's core values. The next generation of our community depends upon our our educators.

We'd like to thank all of the teachers and faculty at Stonegate Elementary in Irvine where their main objective is to lead all students to recognize their greatest gifts and to reach their highest potential.

Welcoming Dayle McIntosh Center onsite to participate for a second year in a row in their annual Beyond Awareness event is full-circle support in partnership action ensuring each of our respective like-minded missions can be achieved together. We are grateful to be invited and included where DMC team members could have the opportunity to educate elementary students on life with a disability.

to a very happy day at DMC! Support to Grow and Keep Growing: DMC was thrilled to have the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) visit us onsite earlier this month. DOR has been very instrumental as a means of essential support to become vendorized so that our organization can continue to educate, train and grow inclusive ways to expand upon support for our growing market needs.

During this visit onsite DMC was able to get re-certified for our Assistive Technology (AT) Fee-For-Service (FFS) for three years and newly certified for Pre-ETS for one year.

AT FFS works directly with DOR for Service programs for the Orange and San Gabriel regions for AT assessments and training.

To learn more about AT FFS check out our flyer:https://daylemc.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/AT-FFS-Flyer-for-DOR-2025.pdf
