☕✨🎉 FUN FACT FRIDAY 🎉✨☕

Did you know…..??

The name Freedom Café isn’t just cute branding, it’s actually layered with meaning. 💛

“Freedom” is English 🇺🇸
“Café” (with the little mark over the e 😉) is Spanish for coffee 🇬🇹

So when you put it together, our name literally means Freedom Coffee. ☕🔥

Don’t get me wrong…we wouldn’t write it that way if it were completely Spanish. It was just a fun way to blend our love of two countries.

Some read CAFÉ as the American word “cafe” and that works too! Because we always knew this space would grow beyond coffee into clean grab-and-go meals , better-for-you treats , and intentional options for our community 🤍

It’s a beautiful little play on words with a deeper purpose. Our name is actually a nod to the heart of our mission at Freedom Initiative International, our umbrella nonprofit, which is to build cross-cultural bridges to ignite freedom through education, outreach, and global impact ✨

English + Spanish.
United States + Guatemala.
Coffee + Calling. 🙏

As if that wasn’t fun enough, a few years ago but several years after we named the nonprofit in 2018 and pursued sharing the love, hope and freedom of Jesus, I (Carrie) learned that my actual name means …. You’ll never guess …. It is said that Carrie actually means Freedom.

Crazy, right?!

Well, now you know! We’re so grateful God has given us a space where we can offer better options for a greater purpose!

Yall know time it issssss!!! The Brew Box is set up and ready for THIS WEEKEND at !!

We’re in the arena and we’ll be slingin’ love, hope and freedom with a side of caffeine all weekend long!!

It’s going to be a GORGEOUS weekend (and it’s our ’s birthday on Sunday!!) So get out and come visit us and your favorite local businesses - a one stop shopping experience for the whole fam!

I’m prepping for the kids to come after school and my heart is filled with gratitude!

The afterschool program allows for kiddos to have PB&Js, chips, cookies and a drink while we chat about life, leadership and Jesus.

This would not be possible without the help of our community.

Gator Junction BBQ, Cornerstone - Anahuac, and Anita Hisler keep us stocked with bread, peanut butter, jelly, cookies, chips and lemonade.

Today, I got to make their sandwiches on sourdough bread thanks to Gigi Baked! She’s has begun graciously donating bread from her stash at KP Customs in Winnie!

There are some of you who donate monetarily or cover Thursday’s meals as well.

Sigh….my heart is so full.

If you could only be a fly on the wall to hear the conversations had with these kids and see how much they are growing.

We are so grateful for your continued love and support. We can’t do what we do without all of you. 🩵🧡

Hey Freedom Fam, we know there is so much LOVE in the air but we also recognize that a lot of people are hurting in this season and these holidays are hard for some.

We just wanted to drop a quick note to tell you that we see you and that we are praying for you today. We want you to know that you are not alone and that you truly are so very loved.

Even if you don’t feel the love in the people around you, oof - or even within you, the Creator of the Universe loves you deeply….So deeply that He saw fit to die for you.

God truly wrote the greatest love story ever told and even though we don’t know the next chapter, we know the ending.

This Valentine’s Day, no matter if you are celebrating or grieving - or both - we pray that, above all, you personally experience the love, hope and freedom of Jesus Christ.

Hey Everyone,

We are overwhelmed by the love and support that was shown during the benefit for the McWilliams Family. Seeing how the community came together to encourage, fund, and support in this time of need – it’s hard to find the words to describe the appreciation. But nonetheless, we are so thankful for each and every one of you.

Just since we started sharing our 2026 year end goal, FIVE new families have said “yes” to partnering with FII. THAT'S BIG NEWS!! Thank you, Freedom Fam!! 🙌

Freedom Café isn’t just a coffee shop - it’s a place full of prayer, encouragement, and connection. Every day, kids are learning and laughing in our after-school program, discovering discipleship and their identity in Jesus. 🙏 Hearts are lifted through conversations. And every cup of Guatemalan coffee ☕ helps families halfway across the world. Some moments you just can’t measure - peace replacing worry, hope coming back, and faith growing. 🌱

Every time I think about the impact this $250,000 goal will make, my eyes fill with tears of overwhelm 😭 - because of the lives that will be touched with the love, hope, and freedom of Jesus Christ through practical means of outreach. ✨
