Yesterday we were talking about Ephesians 6:7 “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.” (And yes - I am doing a series on 6/7 - that way every time they hear 6/7 they are not just mindlessly following the crowd but they’re ALSO reminded of scripture! that’s how we flip things around for God’s glory 😉)
Anyhow….after we talked through the scripture a bit, I asked the kids what me and Mr. Tyson really have to gain from being here almost every day with them “serving people” … feeding them, teaching them, hanging out with them.
I thought they’d say they weren’t sure or something about how we could be doing other things or how amazing they are … but nope.
I saw the wheels turning.
One of the boys spoke up -
“Ms. Carrie, you’re here every day helping kids stay off the streets. You’re helping us not get into trouble after school. You’re teaching us about Jesus and His Word.”
😭 Wellllll, yes! We are serving the Lord - That’s exactly the heart behind everything we do.
And speaking of keeping them out of trouble after school, tonight, the Lord has also given these kids a beautiful reminder that He hears their prayers.
Our NextGen kids have been praying for a basketball goal since before we even moved to this location and a generous family has donated one. (Thank you, Freedom Fam 🥰)
I can’t wait to see their faces when they realize God answered them. 👏🏻
Since today is Giving Tuesday, we just want to say how grateful we are for everyone who believes in this work. If the Lord stirs your heart to come alongside us, whether through prayer or giving, we’d love to have you partner with us as we keep pouring into our community.
We sure love you all a latte 🫶🏼
