Nothing was going to keep John from March Madness, not even a hospital stay. 🏀

As a longtime Iowa Hawkeyes fan, John hasn’t missed a moment during his time at JRMC. With giant brackets on our walls, games on TV, and even a chance to shoot some hoops himself, John's been able to keep up with the games and have some fun along the way.

Beyond the basketball, John says what’s stood out most is the care he’s received. He’s especially grateful for the nurses and the way the team has communicated clearly about his care and next steps.

Helping patients stay connected to what they love, while delivering exceptional care is what it’s all about.

During a recent care conference, patient Don and his family took a moment to share what their experience at Jones Regional Medical Center has meant to them. Their appreciation for the care Don has received touched everyone in the room. As they spoke about the kindness, dedication, and attentiveness shown by our team, it became clear just how meaningful compassionate care can be for patients and their families.

This story also carries a special connection. Don is a family member of one of our own—Pam, a longtime JRMC team member who has been part of our organization for more than nine years. Pam currently serves on the Foundation team, but throughout her time here, she has supported patients and staff in many ways, including roles in inpatient activities, physical therapy, and cardiac rehab.

Pam shared how meaningful it was to see her own family member receive care at JRMC:

“I see every day how hard our entire team works to ensure patients receive top‑notch care. But when it’s your own family member in need, it gives you an even deeper appreciation for the compassionate, high‑quality care they receive—right here in our own community, close to home.”

As Volunteer Coordinator, Pam has partnered with departments across the hospital to ensure patients feel supported in unique and meaningful ways. From chaplains and therapy animals to volunteer knitters, crocheters, and seamstresses, she helps bring comfort and connection into the hospital environment. She is also closely involved with the Auxiliary, Nursing Honor Guard, and the Prayer Shawl Group—one of whose beautiful shawls can be seen behind Don in the photo.

Pam’s dedication and Don’s experience reflect the heart of JRMC: neighbors caring for neighbors, and a team dedicated to supporting patients and families when they need it most.

St. Patrick’s Day brought a little extra joy to JRMC! 🍀

Our patient, Ethel, was all smiles as she enjoyed festive treats, cheerful attire, and heartfelt conversation with Nancy, our volunteer chaplain. Nancy visits JRMC each Monday, and we are so grateful for the compassion and comfort she brings to our patients, families, and staff.

Our chaplains provide spiritual, emotional, and pastoral support during times of illness, grief, and uncertainty—offering a caring, nonjudgmental presence for all. Nancy shared, “Every day I serve as a volunteer chaplain is an opportunity to help someone have a brighter day. He walks with me, helping me remind each person I meet that they are a blessing—and they truly make my day better.”

Ethel shared, “The staff have taken such good care of me, and I am getting better.”

Thank you, Ethel, for choosing JRMC for your care, and thank you, Nancy, for your kindness and dedication. đź’š
