Before you say, “The medication stopped working,” pause.

Check your calories before you check your dose.

I see this all the time. Women on semaglutide or tirzepatide barely eating — 600, 800, maybe 900 calories — and not even realizing it. Appetite is low, so it feels like it’s working.

But your body? It thinks there’s a famine.

Thyroid slows down.
Cortisol goes up.
Muscle gets broken down for fuel.

And here’s the part no one explains clearly:

Every pound of muscle you lose lowers your metabolism by roughly 50 calories a day.

Lose 8–10 pounds of muscle?
