Not everyone is eligible to use the abortion pill.

Eligibility depends on medical guidelines and individual health factors, which is why it’s important to understand how the abortion pill works and who it may not be recommended for before taking it.

While there are additional considerations, the abortion pill regimen is not advised for individuals who:

❌ Have anemia
❌ Have bleeding disorders
❌ Have liver or kidney disease
❌ Have seizure disorders
❌ Have acute inflammatory bowel disease
❌ Have an intrauterine device (IUD) in place
❌ Are unable to return for a follow-up visit

Medication abortion may also require a follow-up appointment to ensure the abortion is complete, and some individuals may need a surgical abortion to finish the process.
