Alaska Back Care Center is formally announcing the closure of the clinic

It’s been my sincere appreciation for your trust and support over the past 35 years.

As I’ve incessantly expressed for the past 35 years of the importance to continue your chiropractic care. I highly recommend Dr Tim Kanady (907-272-2700) at Kanady Chiropractic Center.

Requests for medical records will need to come through your new provider, they’ll know the HIPAA rules that must be followed.

TOTs, or Time Outside Together, is a hands-on nature program for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. Spring is coming, and the bears are waking up. Learn about bears and bear safety through song, exploration, and a woodland walk.

Friday, April 18, 10 a.m.–noon I Junior Ranger: Bears Next Door
It’s time to yawn, stretch and wiggle those toes! The bears are waking up. Discover bear adaptations and learn how to help keep bears wild through fun, energetic activities. For children ages 5-10 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wednesday, April 23, noon–1 p.m. I Virtual Birding Basics
The spring bird migration has begun, which means that billions of birds are returning to Alaska for the summertime. Grab your lunch and join a CCSC naturalist for a noontime virtual program about birding. We will learn how to identify birds by size, shape, sound, color, and habitat—skills that will help you identify these springtime flyers.

Did you know today was puffin day? I didn't either quite frankly. It seems like every single day has been claimed by something. I'm curious what day is international "nothing day”? This photo is of a horned puffin with a fish in its mouth flying toward Chisik Island at the head of Tuxedni Bay and Cook Inlet. These critters are amazingly fast, like torpedoes. The only way to catch them is in flight is with the newfangled cameras that have auto focus. Back in the day, it was nearly impossible. This photo was made with a Canon 1DX Mark II and a Canon 100-400mm lens at 400mm at 1/1250th second at f/6.3 at ISO 2000 auto… and mind you, I was shooting at 14 frames a second. I'm just hoping that one of them was in focus. That is what we professionals call the "spray and pray" technique.
