Merle, you are so loved and so missed 💔

"It took me a while to get around to writing this... I want to express my deep appreciation to Rachel at Flameless Cremation for her compassion, empathy and professionalism when I lost my chocolate lab Merle. My buddy, friend, confidant and heart of 13 plus years. The keepsakes she delivered to me (paw prints in clay and on cards) and ashes are back home and are reminders of the fond memories he leaves me with on a daily basis. He is truly missed. - - Curtis"

Prepping for taxes today has been mind-numbing until just now -- over $22,000 in donated services last year for families who can't afford aftercare, and for nonprofits where budgets are already stretched thin. The house is emptier and quieter without Howard. But Matilda’s still here, hamming it up, and I’m grateful for her today.

I'm not going to claim that I've ever been great at posting to social media regularly but I've been especially bad lately. Doing my best to show up for my work families, my family family, and also trying to fully acknowledge and make space for my own personal grief has been a lot.

"Tragedy" doesn't come close to describing the devastation. But today my heart feels a little happiness knowing that the blankets donated by my Flameless families might bring some comfort to someone else.
