Cindy and Vic’s R & R began in 1999 when Cindy Hensley and Vicki Cellers were special educators in the Anchorage School District working for the Adult Community Transition Program (ACT). Cindy and Vic became aware that over the summer many of their students lacked access to active community engagement and they wanted to find ways to help their students stay productive, learning, and active in their community. Cindy and Vic also saw a gap in these kinds of services for students after graduation. Today, Cindy and Vic’s R & R, Inc, serves over 60 individuals and has over 30 staff. They have a year-round day hab program and a fall and winter evening program. Cindy and Vic’s has group homes and provides respite, in-home, and supported living services. Cindy and Vic’s R & R employs high caliber professional staff that includes teachers, counselors, occupational therapists, recreation specialists, adaptive physical education teachers, and college students. There has been little staff turnover in the 15+ years of the program. Cindy and Vicki believe in creating a family environment in the workplace and with our clients that fosters camaraderie, caring, learning, and fun!
