Are you intermittent fasting for weight loss? You aren't alone. It has been found to be profoundly effective for weight loss, but has risks that are not part of the sales pitch we hear. Doctor Longo is the researcher responsible for most of the data used in support of intermittent fasting. His primary goal in research is longevity, and disease prevention. The fasting that he recommends appears to be able to reset the bodies inflammatory response.
One thing that surprised me was the reduction in life expectancy associated with intermittent fasting as it is being applied today. That was a real shock.
His CV is extensive. Since 2011 he has been the Director of the Gerontology Institute and chaired School of Gerontology at USC. I might be a little biased because I got my graduate degree there. He is also leading similar research in Milan. I like an author I can find on PubMed, vs TikTok.
Anyway I recommend listening to his research findings. I am considering trying his fasting program, and recommending it to my patients.
