Planning for Life After High School?

Students with disabilities (ages 14–21) and their families are invited to attend the ASD Secondary Transition Expo — your one-stop opportunity to connect with adult service agencies, employment providers, and postsecondary programs.

Saturday, April 25, from 12:00–4:00 PM at the ASD Education Center

What began as a single course in Canberra, Australia 25 years ago, has grown into a global movement, and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, University of Alaska Anchorage College of Health and UAA Center for Human Development - Alaska's UCEDD are honored to be part of it!

Since introducing Mental Health First Aid to America in 2008, more than 4 million people in all 50 states and U.S. territories. Since UAA's Center for Human Development Alaska Training Cooperative took it on in 2011, we have seen close to 20,000 Alaskans receive MHFA certification.

Now, as we celebrate the program’s journey, we also mark another Mental Health First Aid International milestone: Mental Health First Aid Day!

World Mental Health Day recognizes the need for global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma.

In honor of the day, the UAA Center for Human Development's Alaska Training Cooperative hosted a free Mental Health First Aid training yesterday.

Thanks to the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and the Alaska Department of Health's Office of Substance Misuse and Addiction Prevention for sponsoring the course.
