The UAA Center for Human Development has 4 major functions:

1) Interdisciplinary education
2) Community training and technical assistance
3) Research
4) Information dissemination

These activities are designed to increase independence, productivity, community integration, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities. CHD's projects and activities are not limited to developmental disabilities;

they focus on a wide range of disabilities, ages, and issues. Vision:

What began as a single course in Canberra, Australia 25 years ago, has grown into a global movement, and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, University of Alaska Anchorage College of Health and UAA Center for Human Development - Alaska's UCEDD are honored to be part of it!

Since introducing Mental Health First Aid to America in 2008, more than 4 million people in all 50 states and U.S. territories. Since UAA's Center for Human Development Alaska Training Cooperative took it on in 2011, we have seen close to 20,000 Alaskans receive MHFA certification.

Now, as we celebrate the program’s journey, we also mark another Mental Health First Aid International milestone: Mental Health First Aid Day!

A free, statewide Zoom learning network intended for family members, self advocates, and those supporting individuals with disabilities who also need higher support and care levels.
