Easterseals has been helping individuals with disabilities and special needs, and their families, live better lives for over 90 years. From child development centers to physical rehabilitation and job training for people with disabilities, Easterseals offers a variety of services to help people with disabilities address life's challenges and achieve personal goals.

Services Offered -

Easterseals Alaska is a trusted organization in our great state for almost 75 years. We offer quality and dignified community based and in home services. We serve children, adults, seniors and Veterans alike. We offer a full array of services that cover the lifespan of the people we serve. In consultation with our staff, families choose the services that best meet their needs. Please call us to see how we may assist you or your loved one.

Day Habilitation

Service provides out of home support, for children & adults alike, in acquiring or improving social and adaptive skills in a community setting. This service assists in achieving the personal goals of each individual. Goals such as Personal safety, self-reliance, personal fitness, decision making and employment.

Child & Adult Family Habilitation Homes/Foster Care, Adult Supported Living, and In Home Supports for Children

These services are designed to assist children and adults to live in safe, trusted and supported environments. Clients are encouraged to thrive and grow while being provided for in a nurturing family style living environment.

Therapeutic Foster Parenting

Therapeutic Foster Parents provide support to children who need specialized parenting because of physical and/or intellectual disabilities, emotional or behavioral challenges or complex medical needs. Parents work closely with therapeutic support teams and follow treatment plans. Therapeutic Foster Parents provide the everyday basic needs of a child and help the child grow through educational, cultural and social experiences. A daily stipend is paid to the foster parents for the therapeutic care they provide. Foster Parents offer positive teaching and a willingness to set firm boundaries while remaining patient and tolerant.

Family Habilitation

Family preservation is a core value at Easterseals Alaska. We want to make sure children and adults alike are still able to participate as a valuable member in your family. Family Habilitation (Fam Hab) is similar to Day Habilitation but instead of learning skills in a community setting, individuals learn skills in a family environment. This is a service that supports children as well as adults to learn life skills. Although goals are chosen on an individual basis, the skills of house hold chores, food preparation, money management, and living peacefully with house mates are cornerstones of Fam Hab. This truly is an invaluable resource for families and children/young adults and most anyone in need, to learn and cultivate growth.

Supported Employment

An individualized services to coach job skills and employment ethics.

Respite Services provide family members/caregivers relief from their care responsibilities. You can leave home knowing your loved one is cared for with dignity and self-respect. Services include; meal planning and preparation, socialization, light housekeeping, dressing assistance and community outings.

Overnight Respite Care is also available.

Chore Services are directed toward maintaining client households rather than provide hands on assistance with personal care. Services include; housekeeping, house management, shopping and errands and meal preparation.

Personal Care Attendants This service provides hands on care to clients, children & adults alike, with assistance for daily living activities such as; bathing and dressing, personal hygiene, meal planning and preparation, eating assistance, medication assistance, transfers and ambulation.

Our services can be funded through Medicaid Waiver, private insurance, and private pay. Please feel free to call and discuss the option that would best suit your needs.

Medical Transportation: transportation to and/or from surgical center or hospital

This service can provide transportation from your home to surgery center or transportation after surgical procedure from surgery center to your home. We keep wait times minimal, arrive on time and get to & from destinations in a timely manner, all while ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers.
