DaVinci Robotic SURGERY
DaVinci Robotic Surgery improves the laparoscopic surgery method. Compared to the long, relatively inflexible tools used in laparoscopic surgery, the DaVinci Robotic System provides smaller instruments that can provide a 360-degree rotation, along with a high-definition camera that gives the surgeon a 3-dimensional view on a video monitor. While the term “robotic” may imply that a machine is performing the surgery, this is NOT the case. Robotic technology merely provides the trained surgeon with much more precision to the movements of the surgeon’s hands on the controls. The tiny incisions used with the DaVinci method lower the risk of infection, reduce blood loss, and reduce pain during recovery. The use of the Robotic Surgery System enables the trained surgeon to do more surgeries laparoscopically that previously required “open surgery.” With DaVinci Robotic Surgery, most patients go home the day of surgery, heal faster and resume routine activities, and return to work earlier. It is important to remember that not all hernias are suitable for laparoscopic or DaVinci Robotic Surgery repair. The hernia surgeon will evaluate your unique condition to determine the most appropriate surgical technique.
