Acupuncture uses gentle, precise needles to stimulate specific points on the body that help calm the nervous system and improve circulation. This can support pain relief, reduce stress, and encourage overall balance.

Many of these points help release built-up tension and support the body’s natural healing response. Most people find acupuncture deeply relaxing, with sensations like warmth, heaviness, or gentle pressure during treatment.

If you’re curious about acupuncture, we’re always happy to help you learn more. Visit our website using the link below, or give us a call at 907-339-0330.

Meet Tina Spurlock, Office Manager 👋
Tina has been part of the Anchorage community since 1974, raising her two daughters here and building a life rooted in connection and service. She’s worked in the medical field since she was 20 and loves being part of a clinic where she can help empower people to take charge of their health and well-being. Her warmth and steady presence are often the first things patients notice when they walk through the door.

Tina finds joy in caring for her houseplants, tending her yard in the summer, and making (and eating!) soup year-round. One of her favorite quotes is from Martin Luther King Jr.: “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” It’s a sentiment she carries into both her work and her life.

Outside the clinic, Tina loves spending time with her husband and cherishes every moment with her grandson and granddaughter.

Her kindness, humor, and dedication make our clinic feel welcoming the moment you walk in.

Chiropractic adjustments do more than ease discomfort, they help restore healthy movement to stiff or restricted joints, improving mobility and supporting the body’s natural alignment. When your spine and nervous system are functioning optimally, your immune system benefits too. Regular adjustments can help reduce inflammation, support better communication between body systems, and keep you feeling your best through the season.

Meet Dr. Jean Hulbert, DC, LAc 👋
Jean has been practicing both chiropractic and acupuncture since 1995, bringing decades of integrative care to the Sundog Wellness team. She holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern College of Chiropractic and completed a three-year, master’s-level acupuncture program at the Minnesota Institute of Acupuncture and Herbal Studies. She’s also the only provider in Southcentral Alaska professionally licensed in both chiropractic and acupuncture—a dual perspective that shapes every treatment she offers. Her approach blends the best of both disciplines for care that’s truly holistic and deeply personalized.

Jean is passionate about helping people feel their best so they can live their fullest, most vibrant lives. While many patients come in seeking pain relief, she especially loves when they begin to notice broader improvements—better sleep, calmer moods, easier digestion, and an overall sense of well-being. Her practice includes support for conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive issues, allergies, asthma, menstrual irregularities, and infertility. She also enjoys providing chiropractic and gentle acupuncture care for children.

A lifelong Alaskan, Jean grew up in Anchorage and spent her childhood exploring remote corners of the state with her adventurous family, hiking, skiing, camping, kayaking, and beachcombing along the way. Today, you can still find her outside daily, enjoying Anchorage’s trails and mountains with her yellow lab, Phoebe.

As the founder and heart behind Sundog Wellness, we’re endlessly grateful for the care and vision she brings to our community every day.

Winter invites stillness, a time for reflection, rest, and clarity. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this season is connected to the Water element, representing adaptability, depth, and wisdom.

Just as snow quiets the world around us, the Water element reminds us to go inward to restore energy, care for the kidneys and bones, and nurture our inner calm.

Balance comes from warmth and movement: saunas, baths, fireside gatherings, and winter fun with friends and family. These “fire” moments help us stay flexible, grounded, and connected through the dark months.

Here's to flowing with the season.
