Signs and symptoms of brain injuries can affect many things in your body. They can feel physical, like dizziness, headaches, and nausea. They can affect thinking and remembering, like trouble concentrating. They can impact sleep or cause social and emotional problems like anxiety, irritability, or mood swings. Brain injuries are different for each person and symptoms can change over time. Always talk to your health care provider about traumatic brain injury after a bump, blow, or jolt to the head. Did you know that many Covid-19 patients may develop Dysautonomia after they contract the virus?

The Dysautonomia Project (TDP - a non-profit group) advocates that Manual Therapy/CranioSacral Therapy is one of the top 10 non-pharmacological treatments for this disorder.

Dysautonomia is an umbrella term used to describe several different medical conditions that cause a malfunction of the Autonomic Nervous System. The Autonomic Nervous System controls the "automatic" functions of the body that we do not consciously think about, such as heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, dilation and constriction of the pupils of the eye, kidney function, and temperature control. People living with various forms of dysautonomia have trouble regulating these systems, which can result in lightheadedness, fainting, unstable blood pressure, abnormal heart rates, malnutrition, and in severe cases, death.

Our work is so important, and the word is spreading about how beneficial Manual Therapy is!

Fascial osteopathy research has been aimed at understanding what happens to the fascia following treatment and, as a result of studies, it has been possible to highlight some of the benefits, including a reduction in local pain and inflammation. Fascinating imagery! The great brain drain now visualized. Its what I work with every day using tried and true techniques to assist the brain and support the fluid hydraulics in the flow of CSF that get congested with tensions from various forces. I love using visuals to explain to my patients. So cool we have one of this system now.

Researchers have described the first non-invasive and near real-time visualization of the human brain’s waste-clearance system.

Athena is a lifelong learner who dedicates time daily to exploring advances in alternative medicine and understanding how the different body systems interface each other. She offers her clients the opportunity to see their body as a whole physiological system where muscles, joints, organs, nerves and a client’s experience play a role in living a pain free life. .

Athena graduated from the Alaska Learning Institute with her massage therapy license in the Spring of 2007. She is an Advanced CST practitioner and has studied extensively with the Upledger Institute of Cranialsacral therapy. After many years of using CST in her treatments, Athena discovered the missing piece to assist some of her most complex clients conditions. Visceral and Neural manipulation and the understanding that the body is 3 dimensional in side and out and that organ positions and pressures around nerves can be contributing to pain. Her studies with the Barral Institute have brought a well rounded and full set of tools in her tool kit to address even some of the most complex conditions her clients may be experiencing.

Athena’s technique seamlessly blends Deep Tissue Massage, MyofacialRelease, Trigger Point Therapy, Cupping, Cranial Sacral Therapy, SomaticEmotional Releases, Visceral Manipulation and NeuralManipulation Techniques.
