We know that cancer care involves more than medical treatment, it also means overcoming real-life barriers that can stand in the way of healing.🩵That’s why we created the Patient Support Fund, a safety net designed to help Alaskans manage the financial challenges that arise during cancer treatment, no matter where they receive care. *️⃣Here’s what one community partner recently shared about the impact of this program:
“The Aurora Integrated Oncology Foundation Patient Support Fund is invaluable in helping to meet financial challenges experienced by patients. This fund has provided countless benefits to assist patients with getting to and from their appointments and staying compliant with care. This grant has also helped families remain in their homes by paying rent and mortgages. However, the most exciting support from this grant has been for the non-traditional expenses such studded tires or car repairs. So many other grants have limited lists of approved expenses which do not always allow the patient to access the support they truly need. This grant has removed many of those barriers. Further, the grant application remains simple and straightforward with new improvements on the 2026 application which helps make this grant more manageable for those who might otherwise struggle with paperwork. Additionally, having access to a grant that is based on an oncologic diagnosis rather than being site specific has allowed a number of patients who would not otherwise have access to funding, find a critical resource to help reduce the financial stress and burden of treatment. I cannot overstate the benefit of having this grant available, and to have the administration team located in Alaska has made ease of access to staff, when necessary, so seamless. This has ensured that the unique challenges of the state are not being dismissed. This is a phenomenal resource and truly wonderful organization and staff.”
