OPA recently changed its name from Orthopedic Physicians Anchorage to Orthopedic Physicians Alaska to better reflect our commitment to serving all Alaskans. OPA's vision is to provide the finest orthopedic surgery and musculoskeletal care in North America, offering general and specialized adult care to all Alaskans and visitors.

On this first day of December, we hope you’ve found a moment, or have one planned, to reconnect with the people you love. Whether it’s a handwritten note, a quick message, or time spent together in person, taking that step to reach out matters, especially in the midst of life’s daily hustle.

We also wanted to share a highlight from our first year participating in Skinny Raven’s 2025 Turkey Trot. Spending the morning with our Anchorage community, and seeing so many OPA staff out on the course, was truly inspiring. Over 2,700 participants came together to kick off Thanksgiving Day, creating an incredible atmosphere of joy, movement, and togetherness.

As we head into the holiday season, remember: we’re always stronger together, and the people who lift us up are the ones who help us live without limits.

Meet Ms. Milgrim — a seasoned Physician Assistant with 7+ years of experience, advanced trauma training, and a strong surgical background. A former U.S. Army drill sergeant and Battalion PA, she has cared for thousands of soldiers in high-pressure environments and brings that same precision and calm to her patients today.

She provides expert evaluation and treatment, including joint injections, nerve blocks, trigger point injections, and first-assist support for spine procedures. Known for her leadership, clinical depth, and patient-centered approach, she delivers exceptional care across every interaction.
Outside the clinic, she’s a mom of two, a veteran, and an avid hiker, cook, and gardener who adores her Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Husky mix.

🧠 Provider Spotlight: Dr. Mark Flanum, MD
Dr. Mark Flanum is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with expertise in spine, joint, and sports-related care.

Dr. Flanum completed advanced training at Auckland Hospital and the Adidas Sports Medicine Institute, and was the first surgeon in Alaska to perform the minimally invasive IO Flex lumbar decompression—helping patients find relief with less downtime and faster recovery.

He treats the full range of spine and joint conditions with a patient-first, evidence-based approach that blends innovation with experience.
