Meet the Doctors | Featuring Dr.Matthisen

Dr. Bryan Matthisen, D.C., was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He began his education at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he studied Biological Sciences before pursuing his Doctorate of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, California. Graduating cm laude in 2018, Dr. Matthisen is certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and is Board Certified in Physiotherapy.

During his time in San Jose, Dr. Matthisen completed a preceptorship that provided experience with a wide range of patients from families to professional athletes, including members of the San Jose Sharks hockey team. This experience deepened his understanding of sports chiropractic and the importance of individualized care.

After graduating, Dr. Matthisen returned home to Anchorage to begin his chiropractic career. He believes in addressing the root cause of pain rather than simply treating symptoms. His modern approach combines diversified and Thompson drop techniques with exercise and rehabilitation strategies to help patients achieve lasting results. He also integrates specialized soft tissue methods such as Active Release Technique (ART), Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), and other manual therapies to meet each patient’s specific needs.

A firm believer in collaborative care, Dr. Matthisen works closely with other healthcare providers in Anchorage to ensure comprehensive treatment and optimal outcomes for his patients.

Continuing a family tradition, both Dr. Matthisen’s father and uncle practiced chiropractic in Anchorage. Growing up in this environment, he witnessed firsthand how chiropractic care can transform lives, an inspiration that guides his own practice today.

Outside the office, Dr. Matthisen enjoys playing hockey in local leagues and tournaments, spending time on the golf course, and taking advantage of Alaska’s great outdoors through hiking, camping, and fishing.

Meet the Doctors | Featuring Dr. Fordt

Dr. Ryan Fordt is a graduate of Life University, located just north of Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2015. Certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and Board Certified in Physiotherapy, he is also a proud member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

Dr. Fordt completed his undergraduate studies at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, where he earned a degree in Exercise Science and Physiology. With an energetic and dedicated approach, he believes it is his responsibility to be well-trained in a variety of chiropractic techniques to best meet each patient’s individual needs. He was certified in the Thompson Drop Table Technique in 2013 by Dr. Robert Jackson and later served as President of Life University’s Thompson Club.

Passionate about family wellness, Dr. Fordt pursued advanced training through the ICPA, gaining specialized experience in caring for children and pregnant women. His commitment to chiropractic care began after a football injury left him with persistent low back pain, an experience that inspired his belief that no one should have to live with pain or rely solely on medication for relief.

By treating each patient as an individual and taking time to understand their specific condition, Dr. Fordt focuses on identifying, correcting, and preventing neurospinal issues to support long-term health and function.

Outside the office, Dr. Fordt is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, fishing, and hunting. His love for the outdoors and active lifestyle is what drew him to Anchorage, where every day offers the opportunity for adventure and exploration.
