Informed > Fear. When you know your options and what is to come, you do not fear labor onset & progression.
🤰🏽Pregnancy/Labor Prep is Wellness for Mama & should look like:
1) Prenatal prep to establish care, Trimester check-ins (at minimum) & Postpartum check-in with your pelvic PT:
All should include pelvic floor assessment, coordination of breath work & PF, address any pain points, education on pain management during labor, education of spouse to assist during pregnancy & labor, developing birth plan, postpartum healing guidance, nutritional discussion. Postpartum assessment and plan for recovery.
2)Discussion of optimal plan with your support system: Pelvic PT, OB, Midwife, Doula, Husband, Family. Your birth plan should include what you want before, during, and after labor. Even including if you want quiet time and minimal visitations after baby arrives. Just don’t forget to communicate on birth plan & with family prior!
***Plan on a C-section or having an epidural? Yes-
You have options & still NEED A PLAN!***
3) Your mental preparedness:
This is initiated during our sessions, however most moms find that listening to birth podcasts, reading books and performing calming exercises & breath work (like yoga) in combo with pelvic PT education prepare them for labor.
Mental preparation is 90% of the labor game. Especially in the last weeks when you are near, or even past your ESTIMATED due date - When you are informed, you breathe deeper & are not in fear. When you are not in fear, your body relaxes and baby is able to move down, into, & out of the pelvis.
