Inclusive workplaces build stronger communities.

Here are three ways to be a more inclusive employer:

1️⃣ Focus on ability, not assumptions.
Look at what a person can do. Inclusive hiring starts with evaluating skills and potential, not making decisions based on disability or perceived limitations.

2️⃣ Make simple workplace accommodations.
Many accommodations are low-cost (or no-cost). Flexible scheduling, clear written instructions, task modifications, or assistive tools can make all the difference.

3️⃣ Build a culture of belonging.
Inclusion doesn’t stop at hiring. Provide disability awareness training, encourage team support, and create an environment where every employee feels valued and respected.

When employers open doors with purpose, they go beyond just filling positions... they're changing lives. And that’s the kind of impact that lasts.

It’s Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, so we’re sharing some facts you may not know:

➡️ About 1 in 6 children in the United States are diagnosed with one or more developmental disabilities.

➡️ "Developmental Disability" is an umbrella term covering conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder, Tourette Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy.

➡️ Developmental disabilities begin during the developmental period, most beginning before birth, and typically require varying levels of support.

Over our six-decade history, we have been privileged to support 9,873 individuals as they build their own unique versions of a meaningful life. 💙

Belonging is for everyone.

At Hopewell Center, we know that one blueprint doesn't fit all. For some, a meaningful life includes regular employment. For others, it’s found in creative expression, social connections, or gaining new levels of personal independence.

We believe every individual has unique gifts and abilities to create a meaningful life, and we are here to provide the support needed to make that a reality—no matter what that looks like.
