Tonight, our community pauses in solemn respect and deep gratitude for Suzie Smith, a nurse whose life embodied kindness, courage, and service. After a tragic helicopter accident on Highway 50, Suzie lost her life doing the work she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of healing, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others.

For more than 50 years, Suzie walked into people’s darkest hours and offered them hope — whether at home here or across borders in Nicaragua, where she helped bring medical care to isolated villages. She lifted spirits, steadied hands, and never let suffering blind her to the light in every soul. 

She was more than a nurse. She was a guardian in the skies, a confidante to patients, a mentor to colleagues. Her 21+ years with REACH Air Medical saw her stepping into danger while others stepped back. 

At this time, we send our deepest condolences to Suzie’s family — to her husband, her children, her siblings, and all who loved her. May you feel the embrace of a community lifted in grief and love. Know that Suzie’s light continues to shine through every life she touched.

We will remember her in our quiet moments. We will remember her in service. We will remember her in love.

💙 Please Support Our Oak River staff’s spouse who is dealing with a serious medical emergency💙

One of our own at Oak River Rehab is in need and we are asking for help! Life throws us for a wild ride ans with things that are hard to deal with at times and us in the healing business we know how that goes. Unexpected terrible accident occured and they are currently in the Intensive Care Unit with multiple major fractures and injuries. They are facing a long road ahead, with surgeries and months of healing and recovery still to come.

This staff member has always shown up with dedication and compassion for our residents and their families. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.

The family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses, recovery costs, and the many unexpected burdens that come with such a difficult journey.
