I had the opportunity to join Mamre Missions at Powdersville First Baptist Church for their monthly Community Table Dinner on March 5th where I got to share the health benefits of adding in-season veggies to a jar of pasta sauce! Together I demonstrated how a simple jar of pasta sauce could be combined with additional aromatics like garlic, onion, and celery, along with other seasonal ingredients like carrot, spinach, and basil to amplify the health benefits. This transformed a basic jar of sauce to a enhanced meal that is both cost effective and incredibly delicious.

This was such a fun demonstration. I love getting out in the community and connecting folks to healthful foods!

🌿 Good morning, everyone!

I’ll be honest. I haven’t been the best about updating this page lately. But the great thing about health (and life!) is that there’s always an opportunity to start again. That’s actually one of the key messages I share in many of the health education programs I teach!

For those who may be new here, let me introduce (or reintroduce) myself. My name is Julianna Lyle, and I am the Rural Health and Nutrition Extension Agent with Clemson Extension serving Anderson and Abbeville Counties.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and a master’s degree in Agricultural Education. I love to cook, garden, and teach classes focused on chronic disease prevention and self-management. On my program team, I teach classes such as Health Extension for Diabetes, Growing Health, and Stirring Up Healthy Recipes. I hope you'll consider joining me for an upcoming program!

I’m also a Certified Lactation Counselor and oversee the Mother’s Milk Bank of South Carolina depot site here in Anderson County. We also have a new breastfeeding support group that I help lead called Ask a CLC. In addition, I help coordinate the School-Based Wellness Initiative with the MUSC Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness in Anderson School District 3.

Now I want to get to know YOU a little better! What would you like to see more of on this page?
