02/24/2026

In the gentle embrace of twilight, George Frank Barfield, a man of loving countenance and intelligent discourse, passed away on the twenty-third of February in the year two thousand and twenty-six, lay down his earthly burden in the town of Andrews, Texas. Born in the spring of nineteen hundred and thirty in San Angelo, Texas, he embarked upon life's journey that would span nearly a century, and in its course, he became a beacon of steadfast love and wisdom.

George, as he was known to all, was a man of Christian faith, whose heart was as generous as it was pure. He was the beloved patriarch of a family most dear, leaving behind his cherished wife of fifty golden years, Mildred Jean Qualls Barfield, and their progeny: Johnny Herman Barfield with his wife Doris Jannette Nolan Barfield of Houston, Texas; Cynthia Lori Barfield Trujillo of Carlsbad, New Mexico; step-children Charles Edward Elkins with his wife Barbara of Yukon, Oklahoma; Cynthia Ann Elkins Wright of Andrews, Texas; and a lineage that further blossomed to include grandchildren George Barfield, Jon Michael Barfield and wife Antoinette, Brian Elkins and wife Kristy, Michael Elkins and wife Christy, Steven Elkins and wife Katherine, Kris Allen and wife Shannon, Crystal Wright Britton and husband Robert, Danny Kuykendall, Teffanie Kuykendall Fawks and husband Whitney; twenty-four great-grandchildren, and even those of the fifth generation.

As a young man, George's quest for knowledge saw him don the cap and gown at McCamey High School, from whence he graduated in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and forty-seven. His professional odyssey commenced as a postal assistant in McCamey, from whence he ventured into the realm of insurance sales. Yet it was the call of the oil fields that captured his industrious spirit, leading him to a career in chemical and acid sales. In the fullness of time, George, with his comrade Herb Hobson, did establish an independent oil production company, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and acumen.

Upon his eventual retirement, George found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was oft to be found at his favored haunt, the Andrews Country Club, or else amidst the verdant expanse of the golf course, engaging in the sport he so adored. His voice, rich and melodious, would rise in song to serenade his dear Millie, and together they reveled in the joys of angling and the thrill of games of chance at distant casinos. A devotee of the Cowboys, his passion for the sport of gridiron was such that he and his wife were immortalized with a brick at the hallowed AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Their abode was renowned as the sanctum of the Super Bowl, a place of fellowship and camaraderie where friends and colleagues would gather.

George's life, a tapestry woven with the threads of love and wisdom, has come to its earthly conclusion. He now joins his forebears, Edward Elder Barfield and Mona Collyns Barfield, his siblings Agatha, Mona, Edward, Jack, and Bill, his beloved children Mary Davina Barfield and James Maxwell Barfield, his stepchildren Terri Elkins Kuykendall and James Carroll Wright, and his grandson Koby Noel, in the realm beyond this mortal coil.

Thus, we commit the memory of George Frank Barfield to the eternal annals of time, with the assurance that his legacy shall endure in the hearts of those he so profoundly touched. His departure from this world is not an end, but a transformation, as he continues his journey in the company of angels. Let us not mourn but rather celebrate a life resplendent with love and wisdom, a life truly lived.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at two o’clock in the afternoon at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, Texas.

Alfredo Rodríguez Olivas, 93, was born on July 21, 1932, in Cañada Ancha, Ojinaga, México, to Jesús and Magdalena Rodríguez. He passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, holding the hands of his son and daughter.

Alfredo lived a humble life, content with God’s provisions. From a young age, he learned to work the land with his hands, something he cherished for the entirety of his life. He worked cattle, built the homes he lived in, and harvested much of the food he ate. He found value and peace in routine, in the rhythms of daily life, and in the serenity of simplicity. An early riser, he dressed each day in a pearl snap shirt and Wranglers, enjoyed a cup of coffee, and listened to the radio for the news before beginning his daily tasks. Known for his sense of humor, Alfredo loved telling jokes and bringing laughter to those around him. Those closest to him knew he couldn’t live without his Coca-Cola and mayonnaise.

He lived much of his life alongside his beloved wife, Bertha. They married in April of 1959 and built a beautiful life together. They had two children, Lupe and Jesús, whom he loved unconditionally until his final moment.

As a devout member of the Iglesia de Cristo, Alfredo was a guiding light to those around him. He was a good and faithful servant who began and ended each day reading his Bible. He loved the Lord deeply and took joy in spreading the love of Christ.

Alfredo lived a life of intention, humility, and fulfillment - a legacy his family hopes to continue.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesús and Magdalena Rodríguez, and his siblings: Gilberto, Álvaro, Adán, Gustavo, Rodolfo, and his sister, Socorro.

Alfredo is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bertha Castillo Rodríguez; his son, Jesús Rodríguez, and wife Denise of Odessa; and his daughter, Lupe Flores of Andrews. He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren: Edgar Flores and wife Kori of Midland; Cynthia Sauceda and husband David of Andrews; Josh Flores and wife Olivia of Andrews; Cesar Rodriguez and wife Lorena of Andrews; David Rodriguez and wife Kelsei of Andrews; and Ivan Rodriguez of Austin.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McNett Funeral Home. Funeral services, officiated by José Ramírez and José González, will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

John Charles Wilkerson passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 77, in Austin, Texas surrounded by his wife and daughter.

John was born in Borger, Texas on June 12, 1948. He moved to Andrews when he was 7. He lived in Andrews for 40 years where he began a long career in the oilfield as a welder. Through hard work and dedication he worked his way up through the ranks until he eventually was promoted to field maintenance supervisor at which time he relocated to Central Texas. He made a new home in Giddings, Texas with Delores and retired from his labors in 2015. Not ready to just sit around the house, he started his own business as a courier and later continued working part time as a pipeline inspector. At the time of his passing, John had enjoyed full retirement on his own terms and was “living the life.”

John or Johnny or John C (pick the one you knew him by), lived a long, unyielding life shaped by hard work, harder choices and an unwavering insistence on doing things his own way. He was a man of few words and fewer concessions, forged in the kind of years that leave calluses on the soul as well as the hands. Those who knew him best understood that respect, in his world, was measured not in warmth, but in endurance. Those who were loved by him, however, were in no doubt of his affection.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Delores; his daughter Casey Robertson and her husband, Joey; his three grandsons, AJ, Thomas, and Michael; a host of nieces and nephews; and a handful of people who learned to navigate the weather that surrounded him. They have the quiet knowledge that the world is a little less immovable now that he is in the presence of our maker.
John is reunited with his parents, John “Hurk” and Kitty Wilkerson; and his brother Jerry Wilkerson.

To honor his memory, John would want you to call a friend and visit. Visit about everything and nothing . . . and then do it again the next week.
